    Welcome to episode 5 of Bede & Steve Vs. Leatherface, where your hosts Bede Jermyn & Steven T. Boltz explore the films of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Despite the fourth installmentTexas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation bombing with both critics and audiences when it was released in 1995 (and on its re-release in 1997), there were plans there for a while to make a fifth entry. Unfortunately, they never came to fruition and the franchise went dormant for many years. However, director Michael Bay, his new production company Platinum Dune & the studio New Line Cinema picked up the rights and decided to remake the film for a whole new generation. The result was the 2003 film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which was the directorial debut for acclaimed music video director Marcus Nispel (Friday The 13th '09, Conan The Barbarian '11) and written by Scott Kosar (The Machinist, The Amityville Horror '05). Despite it's mixed reception, it was a big box office hit.
