EP 042 Phil Schrock: "When Faith and War Collide"

What happens when the war follows you home and never lets go?In this episode, I sit down with a former Marine infantryman and sniper team leader who deployed three times to Iraq and Afghanistan. From early days in the Marines to being selected for a sniper platoon and eventually leading his own team, he lived in a world where pressure, precision, and life-or-death decisions were part of everyday reality. But behind the missions and deployments, there were moments that would change everything. On his first deployment, a night patrol turned tragic when the vehicle he was driving went off a bridge killing a Corpsman and injuring fellow Marines. It was a moment that stayed with him, even as he continued on to become a sniper and later a team leader in Afghanistan, where daily combat engagements and constant danger became the norm. That’s where another battle began. As a sniper team leader, he found himself facing an internal conflict between his duty and his faith something that ultimately led him to step down from his role and seek help. What followed was a long and difficult fight with PTSD one that cost him a marriage, nearly took another, and impacted every part of his life. For years, he refused help. He tried to handle it on his own.Until something finally changed. This is a raw, honest conversation about combat, trauma, faith, and what it really takes to rebuild your life when everything starts to fall apart. Please visit our website to get more information: ChangeCatalystPodcast.comSocial Links:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/changecatalyst_podcast✅About The Change Catalyst Podcast:This podcast ain’t for the weak or the fake.
