Parliament Hill rally, Carleton fundraiser mark three years of war in Ukraine

Monday Feb. 24, 2025 marked three years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.  Justin Ball and Abyssinia Abebe connect you directly with advocates and students who were on the ground rallying support for Ukrainian frontliners, children, ahead of the three year mark of the war.  The Charlatan Live attended a rally at Parliament Hill and a fundraiser at Carleton to speak with Ukrainian community members. In this episode, you will hear from Mykyta Zakharchenko, a Ukrainian refugee who came to Canada in March of 2022 under the CUET visa who was at the Parliament Hill rally on Sunday Feb. 23, 2025.  You will also hear from Mikhail Shastko, a second-year Carleton student and member of the Carleton Ukrainian Students’ Club, who called on both Ukrainians and non-Ukrainians to support the country in "even the smallest ways." The club held a fundraiser event at Carleton’s Nideyinàn atrium, formerly known as the University Centre, on Feb. 14.  Read the Charlatan’s coverage on the Ukrainian fundraiser.
