Born into Obsession by Sonja Grey (Review) | Fictional Analysis

Welcome back to Fictional Analysis! 🎙️I am your host, Kajal. This week, I am back with another mafia romance review. Make sure to tap that follow button so you never miss an upload! In this episode, we break down: The Setup: This episode covers the book Born into Obsession by Sonja Grey. It is the eighth installment in the Melnikov legacy series, which is a second-generation story. The plot centers on Nikita, a Melnikov mafia hacker, and Savanna, a college student aiming to be a kindergarten teacher. The Romance: The two characters first meet at Sasha and Cynthia's wedding. It is love at first sight, though they initially feel out of each other's league. The Conflict: A man calling himself Cupid kidnaps Savanna. Nikita has to find a creative way to locate her that does not involve hacking into a system. The Critique: I enjoyed that Nikita's power is obvious without him having to yell or shout threats. However, the story ultimately lacked both spice and action. The Verdict: I am giving this book a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. It is a decent read, but it is highly recommended to read the original Melnikov series first to understand the parents' background stories. I need your help! 🆘I would appreciate it if you could recommend some spicy and exciting novels to me for next week's review. Want the link to download books for free? The Ivory by Nyla K (Review Part 4 & Final Thoughts) | Ep. 16

Welcome back to Fictional Analysis! 🎙️I am your host, Kajal. Today is the last episode covering The Ivory, and I am feeling incredibly nostalgic as we wrap up this month-long journey. In this episode, we break down: The Grand Finale & The Begging Villain: We discuss the final chapters, which felt like a beautifully long, extended epilogue. When Angel leaves, Ivory's reaction is shocking—he actually forgets his beef with Velle and gets on his knees to beg for Angel's safety. We explore how finding love completely broke down his cold, cartel-leader defenses. The Island's New Management: Ivory finally surrenders his kingdom, leaving the mansion to Velle, Joy, Rook, Felix, and Lem , while he moves to Las Vegas to start fresh with Angel. We also recap all the weddings, happy endings, and proposals! The Final Critique: While the romance was comforting, I did not hold back on my critique of the book's structure. At 905 pages , the constant, confusing timeline jumps between past and present POVs really ruined the pacing for me. I explain why a chronological order would have been much better , and how the final conflict resolution felt a bit too easy. The Verdict: Despite the timeline issues, this was a fantastic conclusion that earns a solid 4 out of 5 stars from me. Mentioned in this episode: Book: The Ivory by Nyla K (Part 4 Finale) Series: Alabaster Penitentiary Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I need your help! 🆘Please recommend some spicy and exciting novels to me for next week's review! The Ivory by Nyla K (Review Part 3: Chapters 31-45) | Ep. 15

Welcome back to Fictional Analysis! 🎙️I am your host, Kajal. Today, we are diving into Part 3 of our review of The Ivory by Nyla K, covering chapters 31 through 45. In this episode, we break down: The Escapes & The Lockdown: We follow Angel's wild journey from sneaking into the prison disguised as a girl, to escaping his cell thanks to Luther hacking the security systems, and a tense encounter with Ivory, where the ceiling literally falls between them. The Bird Cage: The absolute most unhinged moment of these chapters! Ivory locks Angel in a literal "bird cage"—though it happens to be the size of a room, complete with a queen-size bed, dresser, closet, and bathroom. The "Vulnerable Hero" Complex: We e been completely alone for years, build walls and act out when they finally start to catch feelings for someone. The Impending War: The tension is at an all-time high as the prisoners and officers draw battle lines. We also discuss that intense cliffhanger in Byron's chapter where Ivory's voice comes over the walkie-talkie, begging for someone to talk to him. The Good News: The confusing, overlapping timelines from the last section are completely gone, making these chapters a much smoother and more enjoyable read!. Mentioned in this episode: Book: The Ivory by Nyla K (Chapters 31-45) Series: Alabaster Penitentiary Next week will be our final episode covering the end of this massive book, and I cannot wait to see who survives the war! I need your help! 🆘Please recommend some spicy and exciting novels to me so I have something amazing to review after this series ends. The Ivory by Nyla K (Review Part 2) | Ep. 14 | Fictional Analysis

Welcome back to Fictional Analysis! 🎙️I am your host, Kajal. Today is the day for Part 2 of our deep dive into The Ivory by Nyla K, the final book in the Alabaster Penitentiary series. In this episode, we break down Chapters 16-30: Filling in the Blanks: While the first part focused on the island's foundation, these chapters shift to clearing up blank spaces from the previous books. We finally get to see other characters' points of view on past events. Angel's Return: We jump to three years after Angel ran from Ivory. He ends up taking a job back at the Alabaster Pen, but he goes disguised as a girl so Manuel won't recognize him. Inside Ivory's Mind: Reading Manuel's POV is fascinating; it is full of humor, rage, and a twisted sense of ownership over Velle. We also uncover the tragic catalyst for Velle breaking free of Manuel's control: the belief that Manuel sold his mother the drugs that killed her. The Critique: The single biggest problem in this section is the timelines. We get absolute whiplash jumping from the time before the first book, straight into the present timeline of the sixth book, and then back to the fourth book, all from different POVs. It makes it very difficult to remember what is happening. The Big Question: After reading Ivory's perspective, I actually feel like Velle and Manuel should have been together. What do you think? Mentioned in this episode: Book: The Ivory by Nyla K (Chapters 16-30) Series: Alabaster Penitentiary I need your help! 🆘Please recommend some spicy and exciting novels to me for future episodes. The Ivory by Nyla K (Review Part 1: Chapters 1-15) | Alabaster Penitentiary Finale

Welcome back to Fictional Analysis! 🎙️ This week, we are officially kicking off our 4-part deep dive into The Ivory by Nyla K, the final book in the Alabaster Penitentiary series. Today, we are reviewing the first 15 chapters. In this episode, we break down: The Island's Lore: We explore the cursed history of the island, the mysterious deaths of past owners, and how Manuel Blanco actually became the warden. Surprisingly, this wasn't the job Manuel originally wanted. Character Deep-Dive: Manuel Blanco: In previous books, he seemed like an invincible, controlling villain who never laughed. I was completely shocked to spy inside his mind and discover he actually jokes, laughs, and is definitely not the "top" I expected him to be in the bedroom!. Character Deep-Dive: Angel Alvarez: Angel is hell-bent on revenge after Manuel killed his parents in front of him when he was just three years old. The Critique: Angel's character motivations are incredibly confusing. He spends his life seeking vengeance, yet by chapter 15, he is sleeping with the Ivory. Also, while the deep dive into the island's past felt a bit boring at first, the spicy scenes and plot twists have me excited for what happens next. Novel Update: ✍️ I am currently writing chapter 16 of my novel!. I didn't have much time this week, but the progress continues. Mentioned in this episode: Book: The Ivory by Nyla K (Chapters 1-15) Series: Alabaster Penitentiary I need your help! 🆘Please recommend some spicy and exciting novels for me to read next!.
