Looking Upstream To Address Violence Against Women
The recent stabbings that occurred at Bondi Junction have sparked a conversation about the culture of violence against women in Australia. In this episode, Amanda and Anita look upstream at the systemic failures that are perpetuating extreme rates of violence against women. Anita's professional experience of working with perpetrators of violence brings much needed, and extremely eye-opening nuance to the subject. Together, they explore what needs to happen to create effective prevention and lasting change. Shifting the focus away from punishment and towards treatment might feel challenging, but it is key.

To Fight Or To Fly With Change
The world is changing around us, and we don't know how to feel about it! Gone are the days of the home phone, a Velcro case to hold your favourite CDs, and a general respect for grammar. Are there genuine life skills that are going down the drain, and if so, does that matter? Change is an inevitable thing, but sometimes it is hard to decide what to fight for and what to let go...

How To Deal With Death
In Western culture, death is a topic that can feel uncomfortable and confronting. So, this week Amanda and Anita discuss some ideas they have come across that look at death in different ways. From death doulas, decorated caskets, confessions and catwalk funerals... death is no laughing matter, until it is! Maybe it is time to allow some lightness to be part of the fullness of grief.

Manifestation Is The New Religion
Less allured by the altruistic beliefs of traditional religions, people are creating ad hoc spiritual practices for themselves. Add a touch of manifestation, and a sprinkle of astrology to get your hands on your dream car and become your BEST self! This line of thinking is driving more people than you think. So, is there any truth to it? Is it a problem? Well as it turns out, micro dosing on too many baseless ideas can be a gateway drug to further-fetched conspiracies. Just because something is meaningless, doesn't mean it's harmless...

Customer Reviews
Two impressive women with wonderful perspectives and insight.
Love the podcast A squared! Just listened to the ‘Upstream’ episode and while it’s truly awful to keep hearing about the terrible violence perpetrated against women, it was heartening to hear Anita’s deep insights into what can and should be done to support change. You’re both such impressive women with a beautiful friendship. Thank you for sharing some of that with us. I also loved the glimmer about Logan - I could picture the scene and can understand how Anita felt that way - delightful! I also shared with a colleague that working with her is my ongoing ‘glimmer’ as it’s such a positive, lovely sentiment. Thanks, gals!
Feedback on funeral episode
Amanda asked for feedback regarding funerals. Please listen to So, I quit my day job. Cathrine Mahoney interviewing Bill Edgar aka The Coffin Confessor, how he carries out deeds for the dead. It is AMAZING, funny, you’ll have audible intake of breath.
