Harold on Games

I stumbled onto Harold on Games whilst looking for interviews with a game designer I’m interested in. I liked what I heard so much I went back and listened to the rest, but not only that, every new episode goes straight to the front of the queue. Why is Harold on Games different? Not only is he a fan and a great interviewer, but he is also a peer of the designers he chats with as a designer himself. The result is conversations that cover game design, hobbies, work and everything in between.

Interviews with the best strategy and war gamers designers working today; Harold really knows his stuff as a designer and someone who knows the industry. Used that background he really gets ‘under the hood’ with each interviewer about their designs, their design methods, and what inspires them. And some extra fun at the end of each episode about books, TV, movies, etc. Highly recommend this podcast for game and history fans.

Great podcast. I was directed here from two other podcasts, Wild Weasal and RitV, and I must say that you’ve captured my attention completely. I’ve only listened to the first two episodes, but I love that you really allow your guests to explore the nuances of their obsessions. Too many other interviewers spend more time talking than listening. I don’t know whether you take requests but, as a solo gamer for at least half of my game time, I’d love to hear an interview with John Butterfield. I am almost obsessed with Fields of Fire too: a flawed masterpiece. Ben Hull is not often heard from, and an interview with him would be welcome and perhaps a first. Anyway, thanks for the production. Keep it coming.
