If there was an avatar for why I have enjoyed this podcast for so long, this episode is it. Anyone who worships at the altar of this record/band is going to grab my attention, but to have the entire cast gushing over it - clearly devotees - well that's a whole other thing.
There's not a lot of form or structure to the episode, but it's always fun to listen to genuine music fanatics, and fair to say that everyone on the show - 6 or 7 people over the course of the last five or so years - have been relatable.
Not every episode hits. A lot of that has to do with the care factor you'd have for any given album, but I have dialled into a number of recordings I hadn't otherwise been exposed to, and by that criteria alone, the show is a success.
The commitment is otherwise noteworthy. 1001 albums, recorded at a pace of 4 per week. I guess they're finished with it now, despite there being just under 150 episodes still to come.
1001 albums is informed, interesting, not overly slick or unnecessarily analytical. That there are genuine Motorhead and Murder City Devils fans within the cast was enough to keep me coming back. Recommended.
