Geshe Ngawang Dhargyey founded the Dhargyey Buddhist Centre in Aotearoa New Zealand in 1984. He gave his last formal teaching in February 1995 in Dunedin, entering into the death process on the 11th of August 1995 and remaining in meditation for over three days.
