Curtin’s Cast

I am enjoying Curtis's Cast. It brings a refreshing take on politics. While it is targeting the ALP faithful there is much for a broader audience. I will give the pod a 5 star rating if it honestly confronts the issue of Organised Crime links to the CFMEU.

I really enjoy the intelligent political analysis but the sound levels drive my wife and I nuts. Kos is extremely easy to hear and obviously has a different microphone to Nick. We are constantly adjusting the volume... way up to hear Nick who has a voice that doesn't project naturally and a terrible microphone but this should all be fixd by a sound engineer to equalise sound levels.

I’m sorry but the inevitable rise of populism takes are getting boring, tiresome and increasingly just plain wrong. The problem for the populists is they eventually gain power and then they run into the same issue as all other governments, an electorate that wants the impossible I’m just tired of polling based analysis because it always says the same thing ‘people upset with status quo, feel betrayed by elites’ despite living in the wealthiest freest society ever built, yes housing is a major crisis of an issue but outside that major issue Australia is a very low taxed population with quite strong services and outside of the dole a decent social safety net and thanks to Bob Hawke and Paul Keating a terrific social wage So instead of using polling data to tell us just how much whining people are doing, I’m looking for a pod that explains how polling can be used to help politicians win arguments, change minds and speak the truth to people, not yet another polling based political pod telling us that people are upset because they want the impossible and are angry at politicians for not delivering it to them

Great show, my only real complain echoes what some others have said about the hosts speaking over the top of the guests. That just makes for a difficult listening experience at times. Otherwise this is really a bit like old school insiders, but more Labor aligned. Honestly I find it quite refreshing in a world where so much media embarks on neutrality for neutrality’s sake and the “bothsidesism” schtick. Sometimes it’s nice to just hear people’s actual opinions. A collab episode with back to back barries is on my wishlist.
