YTTY16: Astrid Pickup - Gaia Yoga

Send us Fan Mail Hello and welcome to the Yoga Teachers Talking Yoga podcast! Today my guest is Astrid Pickup, yoga teacher and owner of Gaia Yoga.  Astrid has taught yoga for 22 years founding Gaia Yoga on Sydney’s upper north shore.  For over a decade, Astrid served on the IYTA committee of management and was president for the last four of those years. She was also a lecturer on the diploma of yoga teaching course, which is of course where we met in 2021! She’s been prolific in organizing workshops and retreats for other lecturers, as well as bringing lecturers from interstate and India.  Her postural knowledge is peerless and brings her extensive experience of hatha yoga to pre-natal yoga as well as with teenagers in high schools. She’s also attained black belt status in karate! Note:  References in the discussion to the IYTA relate to the International Yoga Teachers Association, a forerunner of yoga in Australia.  For 57 years, they taught and supported yoga teachers across Australia.  Sadly though, the IYTA ceased its operations in 2022. You can find more about Gaia Yoga here:  Gaia Yoga Discussed links to the other threads in the yoga tapestry: simonborgolivier.com If you’d like to express an interest in being a guest in our next series, we can be contacted on:  infoytty@gmail.com Further related content and bonus material will be posted on our Facebook page:  Yoga Teachers Talking Yoga Podcast And you can now support the project here:  YTTY Support Page Support the show

YTTY14: Annie Macens - Officially Delicious

Send us Fan Mail Hello and welcome to the Yoga Teachers Talking Yoga podcast! Today my guess is dancer, singer, actor and now yoga teacher Annie Macens, based in Sydney’s northern suburbs. Annie’s practiced yoga for 20 years and has now taught for six providing in-person yoga, and online classes weaving her background in dance and music to invite her students to come back themselves through creative and somatic practices. I first met during our year-long IYTA teacher training with the IYTA and she has since added to her capability with yin yoga and reiki teacher training. She’s found artistic outlets singing kirtan with an established group in Bondi as well as being a whole foods chef, catering for yoga and breathwork retreats! And she continues to teach and coach singers.   Note:  References in the discussion to the IYTA relate to the International Yoga Teachers Association, a forerunner of yoga in Australia.  For 57 years, they taught and supported yoga teachers across Australia.  And yes, David Burgess really was that good!  Sadly though, the IYTA ceased its operations in 2022.
