    Moving home from Australia, starting over & wanting to live multiple lives

    After three years living in Australia, Niamh is after moving home to Ireland but instead of feeling like she’s found where she belongs, she’s questioning all the different lives she could be living. In this catch-up episode of Pretty Disruptive, Niamh talks about moving back home from Australia, living abroad, leaving Sydney, starting over and adjusting to life back in Ireland. She reflects on what it feels like to leave one chapter of your life behind while wondering whether you made the right decision. The conversation then turns to the bigger question: why do we want to live so many different lives? Niamh explores the feeling of wanting to move somewhere new, change careers, become a different version of yourself or completely start over, and whether this is FOMO on your own life. From working in an Indian takeaway at 16, to being shouted at over a bag of spinach in Tesco, to booking dream holidays, surviving corporate coldness, answering COVID hotlines, nearly falling off a Moxy in Australia, and somehow ending up as a marketing manager.. she unpacks her entire chaotic employment history. In this episode, she talks about: the worst job she’s ever had getting fired (more than once) trauma bonding with coworkers why customer service builds character against your will and what all these random roles actually taught her about herself She also shares her thoughts on Wuthering Heights, reflects on Irish pride after the IFTAs, opens up about heavy mood swings despite having a “good” life. Reflective, funny, slightly unhinged...and very much in her working girl era.
