Still Great At Eight, We Ditched The Seven Year Itch! | Darren Kelk & Members - 10

You only get one 8th birthday! Well, break out the streamers and candles because at Fresh Networking it's our year for it.

This is particularly worth celebrating in business as we've all heard about the seven year itch. Staying relevant, 'fresh' and excited long-term takes commitment, dedication and effort. Three cheers for Fresh as it leaves that 'itch' behind and rolls into seven years feeling vibrant and accomplished.  This episode is a birthday celebration to reflect on the eight years of beginning something new (the very first Fresh get-together where it all began), right through to the building of an entire nationwide (and somewhat international) community. The lessons learned, the skills acquired, the peaks, the troughs, the friendships, the experiences and most of all the business support, education and exponential growth.

Tiffanee Cook (the Host and Producer of Let's Get Fresh) speaks to Darren Kelk (His Royal Freshness, the Founder of Fresh) about the journey and amidst this conversation you'll hear snippets of feedback from a handful of our members - Laura Litcanu, Sana Hosseini, Shaun Resnik, Jo Fisher, Hayley Meeking and Emily Potter.   If there's one thing we love at Fresh amidst all the grown-up stuff around business and networking, it's the fun, friendships and the celebration of our successes along the way... so we invite you to pour yourself a birthday champagne and sit in on the party with this episode.

One Decision Away From Success | Kate Save - 9

One Decision Away From Success | Kate Save - 9

Well this episode is a great pump-you-up story of small business putting it’s big business pants on and taking Australia by storm. You might be familiar with Kate Save who appeared on the Australian Shark Tank back in 2017. Well today as Kate heads up Be Fit Food, which is now one of Australia’s largest healthy food distribution services, we are chatting about her journey of how it all started... the three humble years of passionate grinding away to provide a Kate knew her clients needed and then that moment of courage, chance and action that saw the business multiply beyond expectation (and preparation) when Boost Juice’s Janine Allis put her dollars and her faith into Kate’s business. This is one of those stories that as a small business owner, sole trader or entrepreneur has the potential to fuel YOU to take action, keep striving or look at the process you’re likely in the middle of and realise we are all just one decision or action away from exploding our business through the roof (metaphorically, of course). If you need to hear the message ‘you can’t fail if you never give up’ then buckle up because there’s all that and more in this episode. I LOVED it, and I’m sure you will too.

Preparing For Battle In Business | Derrick McManus - 8

Preparing For Battle In Business | Derrick McManus - 8

Five seconds can make or break us. Five seconds can be a fleeting moment or can feel like an eternity. A lot can happen in five seconds but it’s how we prepare for that five seconds that counts. Today’s guest Derrick McManus was perforated 14 times in under five seconds when 14 of the 18 bullets fired at him from a semi automatic assault rifle hit their target. He lay on the ground bleeding to death for three hours before his counterparts could safely get to him. It is what he did leading up to this moment that allowed Derrick to live to tell this story and believe it or not there is a lot of valuable wisdom we as business owners can draw from his training and experience.

Derrick was a South Australian Police officer operating in the elite Special Tasks And Rescue (STAR) Group.  He held specialist skills as a sniper, diver and was trained by the military elite Special Air Services Regiment (SAS) in counter-terrorist tactics. This is a physically, mentally and emotionally demanding environment.  It is an extreme, potentially overwhelming, volatile environment in every way. Derrick had proactively prepared himself physically, mentally and emotionally for the challenges he could expect as a result of the choices he had made.  He took responsibility for his actions and for all possible consequences. Today he is sharing his insights in how we as business owners can physically, mentally and emotionally prepare ourselves for what we may expect to encounter in the world of business and life.

Everything Is Marketing And Marketing Is Everything | Tim Reid - 7

Everything Is Marketing And Marketing Is Everything | Tim Reid - 7

This is a super fun episode about the somewhat mystical topic of marketing. If you own a business or work in a business or offer a professional service then guess what... marketing matters?

But, what is marketing and what isn't?

Does it require a specific budget?

How does marketing bleed into the interactions our clients and customers have with our business and team?

Can we market for free or does it need to cost an arm and a leg?

    Is it actually measurable?

These are some of the questions I fire and the effervescent Tim Reid who has earned himself quite the reputation in the business and marketing space in Australia. Host of the Australia's #1 business marketing podcast, aptly named the Small Business Big Marketing podcast Tim Reid has worked in some of the most reputable large marketing agencies and gained himself traction in the media as a voice worth listening to... and so, let's listen to it shall we??

He/She/They, Why Inclusion Matters | Dr. Paula Stone Williams - 6

He/She/They, Why Inclusion Matters | Dr. Paula Stone Williams - 6

As you (hopefully) know by now, our values at Fresh revolve heavily around community, teamwork and personal growth. So in line with this, we wanted to open the educational door for a casual conversation around inclusion and equity both in our businesses and in our personal lives.

Why? Well for a start, research shows that gender diversity in business results in a 15% increase to profitability. In addition to that,we are living amidst an evolving landscape of terminology and language, and in order to continue to build strong relationships in business (and life) and to provide safe, inclusive environments resulting in high performing businesses and opportunities, it is important that we have an awareness on and a desire to learn about how our language and labelling might positively or negatively affect our team members, colleagues, clients and customers.

Now, as I host this conversation I'll be the first to raise my hand to admit that with all the best of intentions, I'm still wearing my LGBTQI and gender identity 'L' plates and I certainly ride the clutch a number of times as we discuss some of the nuances of pronouns, gender and personal identity. I hope we open the door slightly for those who are not familiar and perhaps tentative when it comes to how to address our LGBTQI friends.

Brands, Built On Behaviour | Dan Monheit - 5

Brands, Built On Behaviour | Dan Monheit - 5

What makes people tick? What's behind decisions that defy logic? And how can we apply what we know about this to our branding and culture as a business?

Let's ask Dan Monheit, who's curiosity lives and breathes at the intersection of creativity and behavioural science. Dan is on a mission to help more business leaders, marketers and brands understand why people do the things that they do. His expertise in this space has seen him present on the topic to thousands of people, both locally, and at major international events including SXSW in Austin Texas.

I think you're going to love this episode.. I know I learned a thing or two. And hey while I've got you here, can I ask a favour? (that will make sense once you've listen in)

    Enjoy!
