David Seymour calls talkback to defend not owning a house

David Seymour calls talkback to defend not owning a house

Following a day of talkback dissecting the ACT Welfare policy announcement, and a previous caller querying him personally for not owning a house, David Seymour phoned Marcus to set the record straight on what he's doing with his money, and NZ's borders staying closed while the world catches up on Covid recovery.
On why he doesn't have a house:
"When [the 84yo previous caller] was my age, it was a bit easier to buy a house."
"I'll buy a house one day, but, like many people in my generation, it's a bit harder."
"I'm just a regular guy, that went on his O.E., arrived back in the country, ended up standing for parliament, and happened to do it in an electorate where if you want to live where you represent, it's a bit more expensive than most places."
    On NZ's borders:
"We live in an island nation on a pandemic planet."

Call of the night: Don and Parris reconnect after 50 years

Call of the night: Don and Parris reconnect after 50 years

Two friends have been reconnected after nearly 50 years, because they were both listening to the Marcus Lush Nights show.
Marcus mentioned the passing of Millie Small, and heard from a few callers who had attended concerts of hers in New Zealand in the 1960s.
One caller, Don, said he went to her show in Greymouth with an older friend of his, Parris Heath, and went backstage after the show as Parris interviewed Millie for the local newspaper.
A couple of hours later, after thinking he had heard himself be mentioned on the radio, Parris rang Marcus to confirm the story.

Marcus Lush shuts down coronavirus conspiracy theorist

Marcus Lush shuts down coronavirus conspiracy theorist

Marcus Lush has made it clear that his show is no place for misinformation and conspiracy theories.
While discussing the second New Zealander who has been diagnosed with coronavirus, caller Rangi-Marie's anger over coronavirus - which she believed was a "scam" - was quickly shut down by Marcus Lush.
He told her that he would not be "the portal for misinformation" in a time when we need an unified voice.
"This is a time where we have to be responsible with the information we put forward."
As she continued to insist that everything was a scam, Marcus asked the woman if she would promise never to call again, as he found her "unsettling".
