In *Music Zettel*, I share ideas and resources for teaching and learning music from my lectures at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, from my own practice as a composer-producer-educator-academic, and from my free online course "The Place of Music in 21st Century Education". Warning - I'm a classically-trained composer, but I passionately believe our model for music education is exclusive, irrelevant, and broken. I advocate for a pluralist approach to music education for ALL children/humans, and welcome you to the discussion around those ideas.

Something outside of my box!

Nice one James Humberstone! This really piqued my interest. I have reasonably musical kids but have not thought critically about how and what they are learning in their school music lessons and their respective strings lessons. I can’t wait for the next episode.

Best Explaination of why Music - Ever!

James is an incredible teacher and music education advocate. The world needs more music and more people to learn about how to make it and share it. Without careful listening, practice & collaboration we won't learn how to live better lives and this podcast explains this in much detail.
