The Shakespeare podcast Shakespeare would have listened to!* This weekly podcast comes in several flavors. Every other week, you'll get our regular episode features a lightning round on several intersections of Shakespeare and the present day, an underused Shakespearian phrase that you can roll into your everyday conversation to impress/annoy your friends, and a homework assignment currently being blown off by a lazy high school student from the internet. Once a month, we offer SO YOU'RE GOING TO SEE SHAKESPEARE, a half-hour briefing on a specific play to listen to on your commute to the theater that will prepare you to be the best little audience member you can be. And in the fourth week of the month, Dan and Kevin will provide some Shakespearian wildcard programming that will almost certain result in them swearing at each other. (*we assume.)

    NHB 210 - Sonnet Exploder (#113)

    Inspired by the hit podcast Song Exploder, Kevin and Dan spend this episode breaking down and analyzing Shakespeare's Sonnet #113.
    Since I left you, mine eye is in my mind;
    And that which governs me to go about
    Doth part his function and is partly blind,
    Seems seeing, but effectually is out;
    For it no form delivers to the heart
    Of bird, of flower, or shape which it doth latch:
    Of his quick objects hath the mind no part,
    Nor his own vision holds what it doth catch;
    For if it see the rud'st or gentlest sight,
    The most sweet favour or deformed'st creature,
    The mountain or the sea, the day or night,
    The crow, or dove, it shapes them to your feature.
       Incapable of more, replete with you,
       My most true mind thus maketh mine eye untrue.

Gai Isokay ,

Get thee to this podcast..y

Just discovered this gem of a podcast and am currently binge listening to it. Kevin and Dan have a fantastic knowledge and understanding of Shakespeare and are also highly entertaining. I love how deeply they go into the texts and they give great insights into the characters as well.
I would highly recommend this podcast to students who are currently studying the Bard.
I’m a 35 year old Mum of three who hasn’t stepped foot in a classroom in over 17 years, and thanks to these guys, I’m actually itching to write essays again. 😂

For the educated and the dunce

Equally good for the Shakespeare knowledgable and the Shakespeare moron. Dan and Kevin seem as though are telling quirky stories about their weirdo friends, those weirdos just happen to be characters from the plays.

You don't need to know or be fluent in Shakespeare's texts to get what's going on; if you're up for learning or revisiting the works of Shakespeare this is a festive way to do so. Very funny.

I am now a Bardhead. Keep making episodes and I shall keep listening.
