After nearly 18 episodes of One Night with Steiny, I’ve gone from picking and choosing based on guests to pressing play no matter who’s on — it’s just that entertaining. Steiny’s chemistry with co-host Gabe is genuinely funny, and the banter with guests often feels natural, high-energy, and completely unscripted (in both good and bad ways).
At its best, the podcast is laugh-out-loud funny and refreshingly chaotic — a big change-up from my usual lineup of podcasts, which suddenly feel a bit too polished or predictable by comparison. Steiny makes a surprisingly solid host, and there’s usually a strong dynamic between him and whoever’s on the couch.
That said, conversations sometimes spiral off course or feel a bit aimless and can drift into background noise.
Another issue is the audio. You’ll need to crank the volume quite high to hear normal conversation, which results in It being way to loud anytime someone yells or an ad starts. It’s a volume rollercoaster. While it may just be my car, I don’t find myself adjusting volume this frequently with other podcasts.
Overall: Raw, entertaining, and often hilarious, but would easily jump to 4.5 stars if the audio was balanced better.
