Ep 643 - Holes, by Louis Sachar
Holes! We all need 'em, we all love 'em. This is a book where a boy is sentenced to dig a bunch of holes out in the desert because he was accused and convicted of a crime he didn't commit.

Ep 642 - Last Night at the Telegraph Club, by Malinda Lo
Lo's award-winning novel seeks to shine a light on marginalized experiences from mid-century San Francisco. What's most impressive is how she's synthesized all of her research into a couple of fresh, compelling characters - allowing the story to honor the historical record without feeling overly bound by it.
Our theme music was composed by Nick Lerangis.

Go-to cosy podcast
I am super fond of this show! The huge back catalogue has brightened many a day during the current pandemic and is still going strong. Like most podcasts, it certainly has improved over time, but a lot of the old stuff is still pretty good, especially if you’ve listened to a few newer episodes and gotten used to the format and sense of humour first. For me, listening to Overdue is the auditory equivalent of being wrapped in a warm blanket. It has few academic pretensions and I can understand how that might turn off people looking for deeper literary analysis. However, I find the show gentle, funny, thoughtful, and intelligent yet accessible. I have also come to really appreciate how sweet and wholesome Andrew and Craig’s friendship is and how much they clearly just enjoy spending time together and chatting about books. The show really has a feeling of hanging out with friends. I also think the hosts have been doing good work in recent years navigating their privilege with humility, using their platform to highlight and engage respectfully with marginalised authors, stories and perspectives, and having thoughtful discussions about race, gender, nationality and class. It’s really heartening to see (well, hear, I guess)! In summary, I really love this show — keep up the great work Andrew and Craig!!
Lame
Spent too much time laughing at their own inside jokes. Comes off as juvenile. Don’t waste your time here.
Waste of time
If you’re looking for an actual literary analysis or review of any kind, you won’t find that here. Zero insight. If I could give zero stars I would. Maybe focus on the actual book at hand as opposed to your incredibly poor comedic skills. Also, eating whilst speaking isn’t cool in anyones book.
