Episode 49: Guy Markham (Project Kurentovanje)

Guy Markham is a force of nature on the internets and a relentless motorcycle enthusiast. His "iamguymarkham" Instagram profile has over 97,000 followers, having taken off during the COVID-19 pandemic when his work running filmset security dried up.  During the recent northern hemisphere winter, Guy embarked on his first film project, travelling by motorcycle with friends Ed and Greg, and cameraman James Archibald, to document the Kurentovanje Festival in Slovenia. Note: when I recorded this interview in mid-March, Guy expected to have his Slovenia trip films ready for publication by mid-April. A couple of days before this episode was published, Guy updated me that the films are still in post-production but will be available to watch soon. He suggested subscribing to both his own YouTube channel, and that of The Machine Shop so that you'll know as soon as the films are available: Guy Markham (iamguymarkham)The Machine ShopDuring this episode, references were made to the following: Kurentovanje FestivalAustin VinceDesperadoPulp FictionFull Metal JacketThe Princess BrideIn BrugesRyan Kluftinger (FortNine)The Adventure Motorcycle Film Festival 2027 has launched and is now taking submissions. For this special episode I've teamed up with Endo Riders and the Endometriosis UK charity to highlight the work of Endometriosis UK and Endo Riders' fund-raising event, "Riding the Welsh Super 10".  "Riding the Welsh Super 10" is a 2-day motorcycle ride in April of the 10 highest roads in Wales, symbolising the 1-in-10 UK women who have endometriosis. Podcasthon is a non-profit initiative with the objective of convincing as many podcasters as possible to dedicate an episode of their show to a charitable organisation of their choice. The idea is to use the episode to highlight or promote the chosen charity. All podcasts participating in the initiative are publishing their dedicated episodes during the week 14th – 20th March. This year Reel Riders is highlighting the Endometriosis UK charity, with a special focus on Endo Riders and their fund-raising event, "Riding the Welsh Super 10".
