    Presenting-Stuff The British Stole

Have you ever wandered around a museum and thought “How on Earth did all of this stuff get here?” You’re not alone. Throughout its reign, the British Empire stole a lot of stuff. Today those objects are housed in genteel institutions across the UK and the world. They usually come with polite plaques. Stuff The British Stole tells the stories about the not-so-polite history behind those looted objects.

01 | This Much Is True — Tradwife rabbit hole

Equality is for ugly losers. Feminism is cancer. #submissivehousewife. Welcome to the world of tradwives, a movement with two distinct subcultures: one wholesome, one harmful. For many, it's about cooking from scratch, caring for children, and getting back to nature. But there's also an insidious side.

Scrolling #tradwife on social media exposes a loose thread in an otherwise tightly knit image of happy family life. Pull the thread, and ugly things reveal themselves

Why stop the podcast now?!

Needed more than ever at this time of worldwide ‘freedom’ protest- seems to be based on a convergence of disinformation…yet this terrific podcast stopped, and instead filled in with one called ‘What the British Stole’.

Worthwhile

In a time when covid conspiracy is ripe this podcast is very worthwhile to gain insight into how people can get swept into conspiracies rather than critical thinking evidence based thought that is needed more than ever

Enjoyable.

This is an enjoyable program. However, I do think it’s ironic you chose to have Sarah Wilson discuss influencer culture. Given she was one of the early Australian influencers who encouraged people to go against medically researched dietary advice and framed it as “just asking questions.” Whilst I think she has done some good work since then, I wish she would acknowledge her part in helping to create this toxic wellness culture in Australia.
