भारत और ऑस्ट्रेलिया के बीच अंतरिक्ष उद्योग को लेकर 'स्पेस मैत्री' नाम की संधि हुई है जिसके तहत अब कंपनियों को फंडिंग भी दी जा रही है। ये कंपनियां ऐसी तकनीक विकसित' करेंगी जो अंतरिक्ष में घूम रही सेटेलाइट को तकनीकी समर्थन दे सकेंगी। लम्बी चर्चाओं के बाद अब यह संधि आखिरकार लागू हो रही है जो भारत और ऑस्ट्रेलिया दोनों की अंतरिक्ष तकनीक कंपनियों और उद्योगों को निकट लाएगी। भारत अंतरिक्ष तकनीक में सबसे तेज़ी से बढ़ते देशों में से एक है, और अब ऑस्ट्रेलिया भी इस विकास का हिस्सा बनना चाहता है। आशा है कि भारत के पहले मानव-सहित अंतरिक्ष मिशन में ऑस्ट्रेलिया भी हिस्सेदारी करेगा।
