Just because you haven't done the thing doesn't mean you can't

Just because you haven't done the thing doesn't mean you can't

Welcome to the SELF.STYLED.LIFE Podcast with Janelle Wehsack

Today I want to look at a story that seems a bit universal at the moment given how many women seem to be telling it to themselves

And this story is that if they ‘haven’t done something by now, it’s because they can’t do it’.

On one level it makes sense, right? If you’ve never done something before, it can seem impossible and it’s easy for your brain to rationalise the fact that you can’t actually do the thing.

But there’s a flaw here. When a baby is little, do you ever look at them and think, well, you’ve never done anything before, so therefore you can’t do anything?

    Of course you don’t.

So in today's episode - Just because you haven't done the thing doesn't mean you can't we're looking into this story.

    We'll be chatting about:
The questions I ask that bring up this story in my coaching sessionsWhy it makes perfect sense that you might be telling yourself this storyTwo strategies for sidestepping protective behaviours and for trying something new

And if you have a question or a topic that you would like me to chat about you can send me a DM over on IG.

Listener request - How my love of France has shaped my leadership

Listener request - How my love of France has shaped my leadership

Welcome to the SELF.STYLED.LIFE Podcast with Janelle Wehsack

I'm back with one of my favourite types of episodes and that's answering a listener question.

When I was first asked about how my love of France shaped me as a leader, my first thought was 'But I don’t think it has. My love of France is quite separate from my coaching or corporate work’.

However, years of being coached have taught me to dig deeper than that.

Our lives are never fully compartmentalised and how we do one thing is usually how we do most things. So I sat with the question for a while. And I realised that France and my love of French culture have influenced my leadership more than I immediately thought.

And in today's episode - How my love of France has shaped my leadership; we're taking a little trip down memory lane.

    We'll be chatting about:
The backstory on my love affair with FranceMy first coaching qualificationThe 3 key areas where my love of all things French has influenced my leadershipTips on upping the quality of things in your life

And if you have a question or a topic that you would like me to chat about you can send me a DM over on IG.

Why I still love working in corporate after 32 years

Why I still love working in corporate after 32 years

Welcome to the SELF.STYLED.LIFE Podcast with Janelle Wehsack

I'm about to celebrate my 32nd year of working in a corporate environment 🎉

Usually the anniversary of when I started work inspires me to share the lessons I’ve learned over the years or my strategies for thriving in corporate. This year though, I’m feeling compelled to defend our choice to work in corporate.

Lately I've been hearing more and more talk about why we should all be trying to get out of corporate, but to me the discussion feels very one sided.

Now, I know there's bullying, burnout and bitchiness (I coach on these things every day), but like everything in life there is a spectrum in corporate and it's not all bad.

The 6 reasons that I'm talking about today that make the corporate environment a great place for me to work are:

I get to lead and coach every single dayI have a steady and stable incomeI get the chance to experiment - oftenI have the opportunity to regularly reinvent myselfI've made the best friends a woman could haveI have so much fun

What I include in my personal success criteria

What I include in my personal success criteria

Welcome to the SELF.STYLED.LIFE Podcast with Janelle Wehsack.

This is a little impromptu mini episode that I wanted to share after all of the interest around what I include in my own success criteria.

I'm hoping that by sharing how I measure my own success I can help to inspire you to play with setting your own success criteria.

In this episode we'll cover the importance of determining your own, unique version of success and what that might include and how that will feed into the success criteria that you set for yourself.

And if after you've had a listen you're ready to delve into this topic on a deeper level, I'm running a masterclass to step you through how you might start measuring your own success. You can join us here.

Sharing my word of the year for 2023

Welcome to the SELF.STYLED.LIFE Podcast with Janelle Wehsack

This episode is all about words of the year.

Way back at the start of 2022, I shared my word of the year,  limitless.

Back when I shared this, so many of you wanted to learn more about what a word of the year is and how you select one. I realised then that selecting a word for the year is something that is big in coaching and personal development circles, but they seem to be a little bit of a mystery for some of us in corporate and other professions.

So in today's episode - Sharing My  Word of the Year for 2023, I thought I'd take a little time to discuss all the things about these special words so that you can consider what word might support you this year.

    We'll be chatting about:

How my 2022 word of the years supported meWhy a word of the year can be helpfulHow you can select a word for the yearAnd of course, my new, 2023 word for the year
