A podcast that’s clever, silly and sometimes unbelievable. SEMI-PRECIOUS follows the stories of two high energy neurodivergentsisters who have survived some pretty tricky life situations. In what can only be described as a classic case of over sharing, the hosts, a brand strategist (the blonde one and a relationship counsellor (the brunette) talk uncut and unpolished about business, raising humans, embarrassing accidents and their unhealthy obsession with Champagne, cheese and gin. You might learn something, you might be inspired but if nothing else, you will definitely have a laugh.

    In episode 2, the Semi Precious sisters share what it was like growing up in the 70’s and 80’s in a big and somewhat dysfunctional family. They quickly discover there are a few things they didn’t know about one another. Jade reveals that she wasn’t a goody two shoes despite her smiling façade, whilst Amber confesses, she was both a scaredy cat and “a bit of an a*****e”. As the youngest 2 of 5 sisters, they compete for the ‘who had it toughest’ award. Jade wins, because she’s the one writing this intro. However, Amber exceeds expectations with her Semi Precious moment which will resonate for many women that have had children. Amber also enriches our lives with a couple of Little Gems.     In episode 4, Amber and Jade share their experience of ageing as Amber sits across from Jade studying how much ‘work’ there is to be done- beginning with her thin patchy eyebrows and chipped nails. They share both their ageing vulnerabilities and they way in which they feel more empowered in their 40’s. They push back on the antiquated notion of ‘dress your age’ and Amber muses that clothes should be simply categorised “good taste and bad taste”, leaving age out of the equation.     EPISODE 5, Amber and Jade go deep into their contrasting experience of business, personal drive, appetite for risk and connection to the term “boss bitch”. As Jade describes it, “the full hardy bravery” required to dig in, work hard and build a career of passion and self advocacy. Amber reflects with some seriousness, on her approach to “failing fast” and the risk v reward attitude that drove her success after she fled a domestic violence situation, starting a business and raising a child on her own. Amber and Jade talk about the importance of impact, loneliness, professional acknowledgement (or lack thereof), recognition and validation in their contrasting industries -  strategy & branding and therapeutic counselling. At some point whilst head first into the editing process, Jade decides things need a little spicing up so interjects the pre-recording with an impromptu phone call to catch Amber off guard and inject “some energy” into the episode! 📷Apologies for the low-fi sound quality of that little bit, Amber was sitting in a wardrobe at the time! And her modern day skill in self-celebrating  achievements through the consumption of Portuguese tarts. Shout out to Amber’s husband Michael who did 3 trips to the bottle shop for extra gin and champagne and our family who drove a long way to support us.     Look out, the Semi-Precious sisters have created their finest podcasting moment together! In this absolute ripper of an episode, Amber shares how number 7 is her lucky number, declaring lucky numbers to never be in the double digits. Jade calls b******t and they eventually get back on track. They explore the subtle art of friendships, as usual, Amber doesn’t care too much about what people think of her, whilst Jade questions every interaction. Both sister confess to some friendship hoarding issues. They both agree that they need more laughter and playfulness in friendships, Amber declaring “If a girls night didn’t challenge my pelvic floor, then it may not have been worth while”. They agree that it’s ok to let go of friendships that are no longer serving you, and to have the difficult conversations with friends if you have needs that are not being met. This idea may have caused Jade to panic and overheat. Note to Amber’s friends: If you’re rattling on about your kids, she has probably zoned out. And yes, she knows she’s got high expectations. Note to Jade friends: If she’s stopped calling you it’s because she assumes you don’t care anymore, invite her to brunch! In addition to getting side tracked with talks of ‘being a jersey cow’ with teens (shout out to Caitlin Moran’s book More than a Woman), they also explore their past and present femme crushes. Amongst the women that made the list are Lisa Gorman, Mia freedom, Opera and Michelle Obama. This episode is a long one, but we promise that we wouldn't waste your 'precious' time if it wasn't worth it.  Warning: It may challenge your pelvic floor, at least we hope so.  Semi-Precious moments are a collection of supermarket antics, sad but true.  Jade- don’t shop when you need to brush your teeth or you’ll have a very minty collection of items. And is it a Rat or is it a mop? Amber- spilling 1,000,000 Litres of carrot and ginger juice and the ‘only what you can carry’ supermarket challenge.     SP: Ep8. Dating Shenanigans

    In this episode Amber and Jade share their hilarious and horrific dating stories from the past. Amber confesses to a plan to get her now husband drunk on their 4th date so he could meet Jade and friends. It did not go as planned.  Jade recommends not choosing expensive wines on first dates, in case they need to be skulled or left behind. Amber recommends a simple G&T, 3 sips- your'e done. They split the difference and decide maybe shots is the way to go. Just not tequila.   Amber says that the only acceptable reason a man in his 30's would still be living at home is if his house was accidentally demolished and Jade confesses to having taken a date to her (first and only) stand up poetry reading. Don't try this at home ladies.  As for the semi precious moments, Jade doesn't do too well when she hungry, so if you serve her raw eggs, watch out.
