Is It College Yet Part 2 of 2
In the series finale of "Sicker Sadder World," hosts Brittany & Laura share a pizza, celebrate the graduating class of Lawndale High, experiment with one more ASMR session (audio warning included), lose the thread of what they're talking about a couple of times, and generally get sappy about this show and their listeners. Commemorative t-shirt coming soon at sickersadderworld.com!
Is It College Yet Part 1 of 2
In the first half of the two-part podcast finale, hosts Brittany and Laura discuss "Is It College Yet" in which our Lawndale friends confront the realities of their lives beyond high school. A mistaken marriage proposal, Quinn in the workforce, and plenty of nepotism are just some of the nuggets that fill out the film's first half.
S5E13 Boxing Daria
The ambitious final episode of the regular series contains sweetness, depth, and some major character development for Daria; when a fridge box triggers a troubling memory, Daria starts to question herself and who her antisocial behavior has most affected in her life. Hosts Brittany & Laura chat about their own podcast journeys, young Helen's hair, and visceral childhood memories. They keep the sappy goodbyes at bay... for now.
S5E12 My Night At Daria's
When Quinn starts a rumor at school that Daria and Tom had sex, Daria confronts whether her relationship is ready for that level of intimacy. Hosts Brittany and Laura recollect their own clunky introductions to sex, discuss the continually coded queerness of Daria's friendship with Jane, and enjoy the sweet sounds of Savage Garden.
S5E11 Prize Fighters
Daria, Jodie and Upchuck compete for a scholarship from a racist and sexist corporation, which makes Jane questions Daria's morals. Also for some stupid reason, Jake has a LOT of hot dogs to get off his hands. Meanwhile, hosts Brittany and Laura discuss Brittany's second grade makeout, Laura's PTSD from college applications and The Head makes an appearance. Sicker Radder World
I would like to gently mirror the sentiments of the other reviewers and confess that, after binging on these BDE women and their incredibly insightful/hilarious commentary (on the show and also their own lives), I am a true believer, no, disciple.
Looking forward to getting into AngelonTop!
I will follow you to the end Brittany and Laura.
My favorite podcast
This is honestly my favorite podcast. I only started listening to Daria because of Brittany and Laura!
I started listening to Sicker Sadder World after it was announced that Brittany & Laura would be hosting an Angel podcast alongside Buffering the Vampire Slayer, and I wanted to get a feel for their podcasting style. They’re great hosts and make you feel like you’re in the room (studio?) with them. If I had to fault them, my only complaint is given the length of the episodes (~30 mins) they sometimes have a tendency to wander from discussion of the episode, but Brittany & Laura are so much fun to listen to that I honestly don’t mind that much. I love listening to them on my way to work or when I’m getting housework done. I’m a fan.
