St Columbans Mission
Columbans are a missionary society of priests who work in cooperation with lay people and Columban Sisters in 17 countries from a standpoint of solidarity with the poor and integrity of creation. Formally founded in 1918, St Columbans Mission Society takes its name from St Columban, Ireland's sixth century missionary to Europe. The Columbans are a global missionary society of priests who work in 17 countries in cooperation with lay people and Columban Sisters from a standpoint of solidarity with the poor and integrity of creation. As Columban Missionaries we live and share the Gospel of Jesus through working with the poor and exploited, seeking justice and dignity for those denied their rights, developing faith communities in the local church and advocating respect and care for the earth and the environment. “Let us be of Christ not of ourselves” St Columban.
