When April Balascio was 40 years old, something she’d feared for decades was finally proven true. Her father, Edward Wayne Edwards, really was a murderer. The Clearing is about what came after April called a detective in 2009 to tell him about her suspicions — a call that led to her father’s arrest and eventual conviction on multiple murders — and tracks the emotional journey as she and host Josh Dean dig back into her childhood, unravel the truth of her father’s life, and overturn a viral online narrative that had turned Edward Wayne Edwards into a kind of serial killer caricature.

Great stuff

What a monster. Loved hearing the story and they way it was told. The audio tapes pull it all together well

Great !

I love hearing from the people that actually lived these crimes and how they were affected from their own words. The narrator is great and doesn’t try and steal the spotlight I was hooked from start to finish!

Hard to listen to

I have no idea why this podcast is so highly rated. I’m a podcast junkie, yet I am struggling with this one. There is nothing about it that is keeping me interested or hanging out for the next episode. It jumps all over the place, I can’t finish it, hung on until episode three but I’m leaving to listen to something Canadian, or British or Australian.
