Superb, important podcast. This is such a rich exploration of how some ideas take off in social networks, and the importance of critical thinking and evidence. We need to understand what happened during the recovered memory movement, because we keep repeating this kind of thing….(the exponential surge in teenagers presenting at gender clinics, for example).

Brilliantly researched and ground-breaking. We need this ground broken once again because the false belief system of repressed memories has had a resurgence after having been discredited previously, following the outbreak of this social contagion in the 1980s and 1990s. It’s showing up once again in the “traumosphere” in which influential writers are promulgating entirely unscientific ideas about memories. Listening to this fascinating podcast, one is struck by the parallels to the contemporary trans craze, yet another psychogenic epidemic which, like the belief in repressed memories, is doing untold (in fact, far greater) harm to vulnerable young people, mostly women.

This has been a challenging but important podcast. I was encouraged to believe I had repressed memories in therapy. Yet I had many many strong clear memories, just not the ones my therapist believed were the ‘hidden’ memories. Thanks for your excellent work. We are witnessing this very same dynamic in our blind acceptance of a child-led, unevidenced medical and therapeutic affirmation model.
