The Stack Overflow Podcast

If you are software engineer and you don’t know or use stack overflow probably you are living under a rock :). In terms of this podcast, Ben, Ryan and Era do a fantastic job. The audio quality is above par, the length of the episodes 25-30 mins is just right not too short and not too long. The types of content covered is also great, from companies (sometimes might feel a bit salesy but still good) and individuals who have done the work in the weeds is great to listen to. Keep up the great work!

Yes, ten years ago Stack Overflow was a useful group of web sites. Now it’s just a way of collecting data to be sold as training models for AI. Relicensing means that your contribution of content is strictly one-way - you can write, but you are not allowed to delete! Volunteer moderators are still, unbelievably, being sucked in to working for free unless you count capricious abuse and dismissal as “payment”. As a programmer I truly believe we would be better off if this company no longer existed.

Having a “sponsored series” with content influenced by Logitech is a bridge too far. The hard line in traditional media between adverts and true content exists for very good reasons, and it is deeply destructive to the still relatively new podcast medium to lower standards like this. It’s a pity, as the SO podcast has had some good stuff in the past.
