    Episode 17 - Fern Nicholson

A very special podcast for me because this famous guest happens to be my sister, Fern Nicholson.

Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts London, Fern Nicholson’s career began in musical theatre in the UK. She starred in Jesus Christ Superstar at the tender age of 11. As a teenager, Fern moved to Australia with her family.  She got married in her 20s and started her own family and raised four children. Her entertainment career was put on hold.

In the year 2000, Fern opened her first acting school and production company. Her unique teaching methods and passion for the craft would later propel her students to reach world wide stardom, starring in successful shows such as: Avengers End Game, Thirteen Reasons Why, House of Cards and Romper Stomper. It would be nearly 2 decades later that Fern would step in front of the camera again as an actor, starring in the TV series, Itch and The Heights; The feature film Dirt Music, acting alongside David Wenham (Lord of the Rings) and Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire) as well as an upcoming, big budget Netflix series.

    Episode 14 - Shelley Q

    Episode 14 - Shelley Q

Shelley Q was born in a small country town near Narrogin, Western Australia.

She discovered a love for music at the age of three, listening to the classic icons of the 50's & 60’s. But her world changed at the age of 10 when seeing the movie , 'Walk the Line'. She taught herself the guitar and learned every song in the movie.

Shelley moved to a boarding school in Perth and when times got tough, the guitar became her best friend. Her talent was soon discovered and Shelley went from playing in the school common-room by herself, to a half-time football spectacle in front of thousands. A single and music video soon followed along with appearances on TV.

Shelley's other passion is acting and she has been cast in a feature film, shooting in Perth during the months of April and May this year.

    Episode 13 - Cyla Maguire

Cyla Maguire is who you would call an inspiring human being. Her childhood could be lifted straight out of a documentary, where the main character ends up in a life of crime or worse, dead. Cyla was shifted from house to house, finally being fostered by an Indigenous Elder who became the mother figure she needed. In her teenage years, Cyla finally found a place she would call home and people she would call family - a boxing gym. Boxing saved her life in many ways, and after turning Pro, Cyla was involved in a near-fatal car accident. This was a defining moment in her life. Cyla has become a role model to many, including myself. Now she shares her story for the first time in this podcast.
