Henry Ellis: Above & Beyond Tasmania

    We're back!

Welcome to the highly anticipated first episode of Season 2 of Up and Away, the Australian Aviation Podcast!

This week I'm joined by Henry Ellis! Henry operates a seaplane company down at the waterfront in Hobart called Above & Beyond Tasmania, where he offers charters, joy flights, and day trips in his de Havilland Beaver. When Henry isn't flying the Beaver he is also a Boeing 737 pilot with Virgin Australia.

I was lucky enough to go visit Henry in Hobart over Christmas and go for a fly with him, which happened to be my first ever trip in a seaplane. It was unreal! We then recorded this episode a few months ago, when I was back in Melbourne, but I'm glad I finally have the chance to share it all with you.

Check out Above & Beyond Tasmania on their website: www.aboveandbeyond.flights.

Australian general aviation at its best

Have you every wondered what it’s like to fly a seaplane? Or what it takes to fly around the remote Australian outback? Aeromedical flying? How on earth do pilots in Australia make it to jobs that are in?

The best general aviation podcast that I’ve been listening to recently. I’m up to episode 5 and it’s made my commute the best part of my work day (And I love my job). Great to see a well produced AUSTRALIAN aviation podcast! If you are looking up at the sky every time a plane flies overhead, whether you are a pilot or not, you should have a listen and find out why it has got me hooked!

An elegant Australian aviation listen

Well done on the launch of a second season!

Australia needed a good aviation podcast and Chris Frangou delivers.

He’s very humble about it, but Chris is also a world-class musician, and that’s where his unique gifts tie together. Exercising an insatiable curiosity for aviation and a strong background in sound and audio, he’s gone straight to the source and recorded it, believe me - there are some MASSIVE names in the first season alone.

Chris is a terrific host. He asks the questions you badly want the answers to. He is relaxed and makes his guests and listeners feel at ease. And — he does his homework. Even when his speakers are not able to meet in person, the quality of the recordings are impeccable. Quite frankly, this podcast is a pleasure to listen to, whether you’re into aviation or not.

Follow Up and Away podcast for some sensational storytelling and a fascinating insight into aviation of all shapes and sizes in Australia.

Good for moms too!

My son always chews my ears off about different aircrafts and their attributes and although I love his excitement and his keen ability to be explain what he’s learning. Thanks to Chris and his guests now I’m finding out more about what my son is interested in and have the ability to guide my teen to follow his interests.
Now that I’m learning about some of the journeys I can be a better career guide for my kids. Maybe my daughter will end up in flight school!
Also great interview skills and wonderful guests.
