Meet my psychiatrist: what he's taught me about anxiety, identity & healthy living | Dr Ranjit Menon

This week I'm joined by my psychiatrist, Dr Ranjit Menon. We've been working together for the past three years, so I wanted to sit down and ask him everything he's taught me about anxiety, identity and what it actually means to live a healthy life. We start with my own mental health journey before diving into the questions I think so many of us have. Why do we experience anxiety? Should we identify with a diagnosis? Why are more people struggling? And what are the simple habits that make the biggest difference to our health and wellbeing? Whether you've been through therapy yourself or you're just trying to better understand your own mind, I think there's something in this conversation for everyone. We talk: What my psychiatrist has learned about me over the past three years Why anxiety isn't something we should try to eliminate The difference between anxiety and an anxiety disorder Why your diagnosis should never become your identity How elite sport approaches mental health and high performance The four pillars of a healthy life Why doing hard things builds resilience The difference between being selfish and being self-centred Why reading is one of the most underrated tools for improving your mind How small daily habits help protect your mental health over time The one thing Ranjit believes every person should prioritise for better health If this episode resonates with you, share it with someone who might need to hear it. Tyler Robinson: Life inside the Tactical Operations Unit | DAF Originals

Content warning: This episode covers some pretty heavy stuff, including graphic mentions of suicide, intense experiences from Tyler's time in the force, and a really heartbreaking case involving the death of a child. If you are not in the headspace for this right now, please look after yourself and feel free give one a miss or come back when you're ready. LifeLine Crisis Support is available 24/7 at 13 11 14. This week on Dyl & Friends I'm joined by Ex-TOU officer, Tyler Robinson. Tyler is a former Tactical Operations Unit officer, breacher, was a part of the riot squad, bike patrol… he’s pretty much done it all in the force. We chat about what life’s actually like inside the job – the pressure, the adrenaline, and the mateship that keeps you going. Tyler opens up about his time in general duties, moving into TOU, and how things started to take a toll mentally. He speaks honestly about developing PTSD, feeling let down by the system, and eventually hitting a point where he knew he had to get help. It's raw, real, and a conversation that needs to be heard. Big thanks to Tyler for coming on and being so open & honest during this chat. YESSS FAM Welcome to the Dyl & Friends Coaches Month!!! Thanks to our great friends at Tackle Your Feelings, we are bringing you an episode with a legendary AFL coach every Monday in the month of March. This week we have none other than the great Sam Mitchell. Few players have left a mark on the AFL quite like this guy. A four-time premiership player, Brownlow Medalist, and one of the most influential midfielders of his era, Mitchell built a reputation on elite decision-making, precise disposal, and an unmatched ability to read the game. Today, we dive into his playing career, discussing how he'd feel coming into the competition now if he was a player. We chat about the lessons he's learned and the legends he has learnt them from, the Hawks ability to get the entire AFL interested in their journey & we even talk about his days playing Call Of Duty & FIFA with Jake Waterman at the Eagles. It was incredible to sit down with Sam & learn so much about one of the best to ever do it. Thanks again to Tackle Your Feelings & the AFLCA for getting this one over the line.
