    The Fresno Nightcrawlers: The Walking White Creatures Caught on Camera

    In 2007, a Fresno homeowner publicly identified only as Jose reportedly saw something unusual on his home surveillance monitor after his dog began barking. The surviving image appears to show two pale, narrow forms moving across the camera view on long white lower sections, with little clearly visible above them. The image became the foundation of the Fresno Nightcrawler legend, but its strongest feature is also its greatest weakness.     The Vegetable Man: The West Virginia Creature Said to Drain Blood Through Its Fingers

    In mid-July 1968, Jennings H. Frederick reportedly returned from an unsuccessful groundhog hunt near Grant Town in Marion County, West Virginia, when he stopped beneath maple trees and heard rapid, high-pitched speech. According to the account Gray Barker published years later, Frederick could not tell whether the message was audible or somehow perceived mentally. Barker rendered it as a plea for medical assistance and an assurance of peaceful intentions. Then Frederick said he felt pain in his arm. He initially believed briars had caught him. Looking down, he reportedly found an extremely thin humanoid gripping his wrist with three long fingers tipped by needle-like structures and suction cups. Frederick believed the being was extracting blood. He also described changing yellow, red, and orange eyes, enormous uphill leaps, and a humming or whistling sound after the figure disappeared. The story reached print in Gray Barker’s Newsletter in March 1976, nearly eight years after the alleged encounter. Barker identified Frederick by name and reportedly published his mailing address with permission.
