Advice 4 The Living

~ Kayla ~

This is Advice 4 The Living…from someone who only kind of is.  I have the unique experience of being a 28 year old woman, with a terminal diagnosis due to genetic issues I was born with, and living on end-of-life hospice/comfort care.  I have been able to gain incredible insight and wisdom as I watched the world go by, and it’s about time I get connected and share it with you all. I want to give my opinion and advice on any and all issues going on in your life that you want a fresh perspective on.  Just real life situations and dilemmas.  It helps me too! - Oh! And there’s no competition on this Podcast about if your situation is worse than someone else’s…let’s be honest, we are all humans who experience difficult situations sometimes.  Nothing is ”too mundane” to ask about.   You asking for my advice regarding any situations that come up in your life; takes my mind off of my own, and maybe puts some of yours into perspective.  If you have a dilemma you want my advice or my opinion on, please email me at advice4theliving@gmail.com (or send through fan mail here on BuzzSprout), and provide me with as much context as you’re comfortable sharing.  Please let me know if you want me to use fake names to enable you to stay anonymous, or if you don’t mind me using the names you provide! I hope you choose to stay and stick around, and I can’t wait to share more wisdom!  Thanks for reading!

Thank you all so so much for listening to this somewhat awkward, embarrassing, episode of Advice 4 The Living that was a sensitive subject and I did my best to keep the graphics to a minimum but this whole email was wild up-and-down, start-to-finish. My heart aches for anyone who’s ever felt “too embarrassed” to seek medical attention which only makes things worse. I’m sending my deepest love and  encouragement to you.  I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through or are continuing to  go through, and I hope you find solace, peace and comfort in knowing you’re not alone and doctors really have seen it all.   For everyone listening, I pray nobody else can specifically relate to that exact scenario, but definitely it was a simple mistake. So, — regardless of if you can relate or not — I hope you can at least take away something that stood out to you or a tidbit of something to think about! Also, I want to reiterate my appreciation for everything you do to interact with this podcast. While downloads are the most helpful (especially if the video has an ad), I truly  appreciate all of it.  From you liking/favouriting/saving the podcast itself or specific episodes that resonate with/stand out to you, to sharing it (either on or off-line/by word of mouth), to when you give it a rating/review on the app you’re tuning in from, and even when you just simply listen.  It really helps propel this podcast forward in the algorithm so that more people can join our ever-growing community movement of difference-makers, world-changers, and those who genuinely care about our fellow humans who are struggling with an invisible burden, even if we don’t share the same opinions/beliefs.  There’s always mutual support and respect and it’s so humbling and beautiful to be a part of! I also really appreciate all of your email submissions, because without them…this podcast wouldn’t exist.  So if you have a topic/subject matter, circumstance or problem/issue/dilemma that you want me to share my thoughts, perspective, advice and opinions on and discussed in an episode, please don’t hesitate to email me at advice4theliving@gmail.com and I check my messages constantly so stay tuned because you’ll never know when your submission will be next! Hello hello hello! Thank you all so so much for listening to this episode of Advice 4 The Living in which there is a chaotic neighbourhood feud that almost feels too wild to fathom (even though I know it’s true). This episode was so wild from top-to-bottom, and beginning-to-end.  I’ve been lucky to have some lovely neighbours throughout Kylie, and stories like these remind me just how lucky I am to not have to encounter nut-jobs like all these people involved besides Candy (obviously lol) For everyone listening — if you can relate to a neighbour  like this or a person who’s just a general  neighbourhood nuisance… my heart goes out to you and I hope you find at least some peace and solace knowing you’re not alone dealing with people like this.  Relatable or not, I hope you can at least take away something that stood out to you or a tidbit of something to think about! Hello hello hello! Thank you all so so much once again for being so incredibly patient with me and for still being here listening to this episode of Advice 4 The Living!  This episode is truly a frustrating situation that becomes an emotional roller coaster all thanks to a brave, kind, courageous, strong, and resilient of little girl named Everly.  It makes me so devastated to know that even now, there are so many people with evilness, hatred, and too much time on their hands, who specifically think a medically fragile child doesn’t deserve at least a minor exception to the “vending license”. For one of the first times on this show,, my heart aches for anyone else who’s ever been in a similar situation to this story in any way, as either “the person encouraging this beautiful young lady and making purchases”, or… the type of person that would have no problem calling authorities who clearly need a little more reminders that they are loved Ava cherished because really… you need a hobby. I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through or are continuing to  go through, and I hope you find solace, peace and comfort in knowing you’re not alone.   Chronic illness can be so isolating, but I promise…one day…you will find your people.  The ones who “get it” in ways no one else can.  And in my experience, even through all the prior broken-hearts, it was worth the wait. For everyone listening — regardless of if you can relate or not — I hope you can at least take away something that stood out to you or a tidbit of something to think about! Also, I want to reiterate my appreciation for everything you do to interact with this podcast. Thank you all so so much once again for being so incredibly patient with me and for still being here listening to this episode of Advice 4 The Living!  This episode is truly a frustrating situation that involves a (sometimes) avoidable feeling of embarrassment and the isolation of a lovely 9-year-old girl.  It makes me so devastated to know that even now, in 2026…disabled people/people with additional medical needs/people who rely on easy accommodations to get them through their day with their confidence and dignity in tact…still aren’t treated as equals, and clearly to some people, they see us as second class citizens who should be “grateful” for the bare minimum done to attempt to create accessibility. I feel like some people think that someone receiving an accommodation means that now they have such an easier time than you and have to do way more work wah wah wah whatever else they want to claim…but accommodations don’t give you a leg up on others…they give you an equal playing field. That being said, my heart aches for anyone else who’s ever been in a similar situation to this story in any way, as *any* person mentioned within it.
