Ragemonger Unleashed: Trollkin Lore and Tabletop Mayhem

We sit down and catch up on our recent hobby progress before diving into the lore of the Trollkin warlock Ragemonger. Tony shares a recent game story where his son Jon showed strong improvement and even managed to defeat him after a dramatic assassination attempt failed by a single hit box. The main discussion focuses on Ragemonger’s backstory. Once a proud Trollkin warrior, he arrogantly ignored his elders and hunted a young Gorgandur to prove his strength. The act led the creature’s parent back to his village, resulting in the destruction of his entire creel. Consumed by guilt, Ragemonger began seeking increasingly dangerous battles, hoping to die gloriously in combat to atone for his mistake. Despite repeatedly throwing himself into deadly situations, fighting raiding warbands, monstrous beasts, and other overwhelming threats. He just always survives through a mix of skill, luck, and strange twists of fate. His repeated survival leads some followers to believe he is unkillable. Eventually, Ragemonger joins the Brineblood fleet and continues hunting powerful enemies. In one notable encounter, he battles a massive shark, even stabbing it from inside after being swallowed. The creature eventually beaches itself and expels him alive. He then adopts a shark pup named Kharka and files his teeth into shark-like points in honor of the battle. We also briefly discuss his tabletop rules, highlighting that he is a highly aggressive melee-focused cavalry warlock designed to support Trollkin and Dire Troll models. His abilities reward charging into combat and buffing nearby allies. The episode closes with light banter about army lists, hobby projects, and plans for the upcoming Adepticon, where they hope to meet listeners and play games. See you all soon. Troll Time: Kithguard Hype, Adepticon Prep, & The Rise of Midas

Angus may be out (voice still MIA), but the hype train rolls on as Tony and Chris dive headfirst into all things Kithguard and Adepticon prep. The Troll boxes have arrived, the resin feels different (and possibly better), and it’s officially crunch time to assemble, prime, and paint before the big event. The guys break down their expanding collections, magnetizing plans, and list tweaks while sharing how the new casual packet is shaping up in real games. Chris talks through his early reps with Kithguard, including trapdoor plays, ambush timing lessons, and what happens when you forget to save fury for transfers. There’s plenty of theorycrafting, battlefield adjustments, and excitement over new releases, alternate sculpts, and upcoming drops as the faction continues to grow. Then it’s on to lore time. This week’s deep dive focuses on Midas, the grisly bone grinder warlock of the Thornfall Alliance. From his obsession with dissecting beasts to taming the first true bivore and challenging Emperor Carver himself, Midas’ story is equal parts savage and strategic. The crew unpacks his battlefield rules, including his feat Pet Cemetery, and explores the wild potential of resurrecting warbeasts mid-game to swing momentum back in your favor. Along the way, they talk Adepticon plans, Duos and Iron Arena prep, narrative campaign excitement, hobby deadlines, community shoutouts, and the ever-growing Book of Opinions (and Book of Grudges). One listener even jumps into Brinebloods after hearing the show, proving once again that this community is growing the right way. Trolls are getting built. Lists are getting locked. Adepticon is looming and as always, we’re Not Just Tactics. Tales From The Frontline And Kithguard Are Here

It’s Warmachine Wednesday, and this episode is packed. We break down the newly announced Tales from the Front Line casual play packet and why it might be exactly what our group has been looking for. From Journeyman League support to full campaign systems and random battlefield events, this update feels like a shift toward narrative-driven play and we’re here for it. Starting the game already in combat? Random encounters mid-match? Deployment zones that shake up traditional positioning? Yes, please. We talk candidly about Steamroller play versus casual formats, and why we’re discovering that while competitive play is fun, our real passion might live in longer-form campaigns, story arcs, and thematic armies that look good on the table. As returning players, we’re learning in real time, which is sometimes the hard way and sharing what that process actually looks like. On the tabletop side, we dive into 50-point games, Kithguard tunnel mechanics, objective scoring mistakes, and what happens when you send too many models underground and forget someone has to hold flags. We also discuss upcoming local events, Adepticon prep, duos strategy, and how smaller point games are shaping our growth as players. There’s hobby talk too about our painting progress, model excitement (especially those upcoming trolls), and speculation about future releases of the core box for Kithguard. We touch on legacy factions, returning armies like Infernals and Grymkin, and how Steamforged is working to support both competitive and casual communities at the same time. Most importantly, we talk about community — how we’re building ours, why we value sportsmanship over pure win-rate, and why we don’t pretend to be experts. We’re returning players rediscovering the game alongside new hobbyists, learning rules corrections as we go, and encouraging others to jump in with us. If you’re excited about narrative play, curious about the new casual packet, prepping for events, or just enjoy honest hobby conversations with a few side tangents and laughs along the way than this one’s for you. Electric Mayhem & Shenanigans

The paint desk is busy, the printers are humming, and the storm is rolling in. This week we dive deep into hobby progress and tournament prep in the world of Warmachine. NJT shares step-by-step updates from the community paint-along (including the “oops, I skipped a photo” moment), experimenting with speed paints, new color choices, and finally braving some fine detail work. Meanwhile, the 3D printers are running nonstop because apparently restraint isn’t part of the hobby plan. We break down the Thunderhead reveal and why this storm-charged powerhouse has us buzzing. Between stacking damage from Chain Reaction, launching servitors across the battlefield for some slam attacks, and unleashing shock fist beatdowns, this model brings serious electricity to the table. We talk through what makes it exciting, how it might shift some lists, and why it’s so tempting to pivot entire army plans around it. On the organized play side, we’re gearing up for our upcoming 50-point Steamroller event at Second City Games, discussing scenario selection, community growth, and what it looks like to step back from organizing and focus more on playing. From there, we look ahead to April’s planned jump to 100 points and what that escalation means for list building, prep time, and getting meaningful reps in before Adepticon. We also reflect on recent practice games, proxy experiments, and the importance of understanding order of operation , because sometimes the difference between victory and disaster is simply sequencing correctly. With the return of Infernals, Grimkin, and Convergence on the horizon, we explore the excitement (and confusion) around some of the more unique mechanics in the game and what kind of delightful chaos they might bring to our local scene. Whether you’re here for the tactics, the hobby grind, the wild list ideas, or the community building, this episode captures what makes this game special. We’re Not Just Tactics. We’re building armies. We’re building friendships. We’re building the community around the game we love. Now check your threat ranges, allocate your focus, and let’s roll some dice. Trivia, Trolls, and Tactical Tunnels!

In today's episode things escalate fast. The conversation starts and rockets through Starship Troopers hot takes, legendary arguments over which movies “exist,” and a reminder that while Warmachine is king, the table is always open for other games, especially when giant bugs or powered armor are involved. Then Tony takes on Chris in a no-holds-barred lore showdown to determine who walks away with an Extreme Craghorn model, featuring bold guesses, questionable confidence, and the shocking discovery that sometimes going with your gut actually works. Then it’s time to get serious (kind of). The team dives deep into the brand-new Kithgard, breaking down trapdoor mechanics, tunneling tricks, sneaky solos, and brutal combo setups that reward smart sequencing and punish sloppy play. Expect detailed talk on Craghorn, Mailis, jungle trolls, Scrappers, solos, and warbeast loadouts, plus plenty of “this is going to be disgusting” moments when the synergies start stacking. Along the way, there’s Adepticon planning, duos tournament dreams, painting challenges, potential community trivia nights, model giveaways, and the eternal Warmachine truth: everything dies… eventually. If you love lore debates, tactical deep dives, wild list theory, and friends who roast each other as hard as they roast opposing armies, this episode delivers. Grab your dice, hide your Sorscha close, and watch out for trapdoors because the Kithguard are coming. Reforging the Community: Arcane Precision, Warmachine, and Playing for the Right Reasons

In this episode, we sit down with Kyle from Arcane Precision, https://linktr.ee/Arcaneprecision, the Warmachine focused podcast dedicated to rebuilding and strengthening the community around the game we love. Kyle shares his journey from early tabletop wargaming through Mark II, III, and into the evolving landscape of Mark IV, and how Arcane Precision grew out of a desire to reconnect players and foster a healthier, more welcoming scene. We dig into accessible entry points like Command Starters, the sweet spot of 30–50 point games, and why Warmachine remains one of the most tactically rewarding systems out there. The conversation also covers rebuilding local metas, welcoming returning players, and balancing competitive play with casual fun. Kyle also breaks down Food Machine, a charity-driven Warmachine event that turns friendly “cheating” into real-world impact, raising money for local food banks while keeping the game lighthearted and inclusive. From community and rules bloat to painted armies, content creation goals, and stompy robots, this episode is all about why Warmachine still matters. Tell us how your community is bringing it back and how your doing it. Teen Tacticians: Building A Warmachine Community

What happens when two sharp teen players enter a table full of veterans armed with Sorscha tech, Cygnar gunlines, and a stack of house lore? You get a fast, funny, and surprisingly deep look at how new competitors learn, adapt, and fall in love with Warmachine by one painted model and hard lesson at a time. We kick off with honest hobby talk: painting sprints that could churn out a hundred points in days, the pride of showing up with finished models, and the real-world hurdles of priming in cold weather. From there, we dive into list building for a 30-point, beginner-friendly event and why a warjack, unit, and solo requirement nudges better fundamentals, and how veterans can set the tone by avoiding oppressive combos. The teens explain what hooks them: flexible lists, a user-friendly app, and a community that teaches rather than gatekeeps. Favorite casters and feats take center stage, like Deneghra’s control tricks, Dekathus’s soul-fueled focus spikes, and Mortenebra Perfected’s resurrection debates all while we run the numbers on Deathjack durability, charge math, and when to boost. The bigger lesson: play peers to build confidence, play veterans to stress-test, then iterate fast. Losses become data, and the next game is always the best game. If you care about Warmachine growth, youth mentorship, or just tighter games, this conversation is a blueprint: keep reps frequent, feedback specific, and the table welcoming. Hit play, then tell us your scariest caster, your go-to beginner tip, and whether painted pride or raw reps come first for you. Subscribe, share with your local meta, and leave a review to help more players find their way to the table.
