    Savior

    We’re kicking off our Smallville Season 9 rewatch with “Savior,” and wow, what a season premiere. Lois Lane finally returns after her mysterious disappearance, Clark is rocking the all-black look while trying to embrace his Kryptonian destiny, and the show wastes no time setting up a season full of mystery, danger, and some seriously intriguing future teases. We talk about Lois being front and center where she absolutely belongs, why Brian Austin Green’s John Corben is such a great addition to the cast, Clark’s struggle between humanity and destiny, and just how much we love the setup surrounding Lois’ dream and what it could mean for everything that’s coming.     The Death and Return of Superman

    Doomsday

    In this episode of Going Back to Smallville, we’re breaking down “Doomsday” and talking about everything that worked for us, everything that hurt, and why this finale still leaves us excited for Season 9. From Jimmy’s heartbreaking death and the birth of Watchtower to Lois disappearing with the Legion ring and the shocking arrival of Zod, this episode throws a lot at us emotionally. We really enjoyed it overall, even if the Clark vs. Doomsday fight felt a little smaller than we hoped for considering this is basically Smallville’s take on The Death of Superman.     Injustice

    Going Back to Smallville returns with our Smallville season 8 rewatch of “Injustice,” an episode that pushes the show into some surprisingly dark territory while introducing Tess Mercer’s version of the Injustice League with Plastique, Parasite, Livewire, and Neutron. We talk about Clark struggling with what to do about Davis/Doomsday, Oliver becoming more ruthless, and Chloe getting pulled deeper into the chaos as the season races toward the finale. More than anything, this episode feels like a major turning point for Tess, because by the end of it, it really seems like she officially knows Clark’s secret and believes she’s helping him fulfill his destiny.
