
Machine Learning - h1 Bootstrapping LLMs to Reason over Longer Horizons via Reinforcement Learning

Here's the kicker: they only gave the model the final answer (the "outcome-only reward"). No step-by-step guidance! This is important because it mimics real-world scenarios where we often only know the end result, not necessarily how someone got there. The results were amazing! By training the LLM on these synthetically created problem chains, they saw a massive improvement in its ability to solve even longer and more challenging competition-level math problems. In fact, they saw up to a 2.06x boost in accuracy!
