The Silver Tassie is Sean O'Casey's anti-war play set during World War I. It starts in a Dublin tenement and follows Harry Hegan as he goes to war and has his life changed forever. This collection includes two films, one on Sean O'Casey and another on the Abbey Theatre's original rejection of the play that ended a successful partnership between playwright and theatre.

    Sean O'Casey (1880-1963) was born into a lower middle class family in Dublin and went on to establish a successful career as a playwright at the Abbey Theatre during the 1920s, the most celebrated plays of this era are The Shadow of the Gunman, Juno and the Paycock and The Plough and the Stars. Featured in this film: Howard Davies (Director), Roy Foster (Irish Historian), Aidan McArdle (Actor), Shivaun O'Casey (Sean O'Casey's daughter)
