    Disabling Bot Attacks

    Disabling Bot Attacks

Detecting and disabling bot attacks on mobile is not an easy task.
I spoke with Alexander Hall, a reformed fraudster and founder of Dispute Defense Consulting. In his experience, if a fraudster can reliably predict what techniques will be successful, they will attempt to automate fraud with bots.
    In our conversation, we discussed:
    - Which industries are most affected by bot attacks
    - The most typical bot attacks by industry
    - Tactics used to build bot farms
I also talked about how session data and apartment-level location can help companies defend against bots.

    How customers use Location Identity

    How customers use Location Identity

From gaming companies to social media platforms, various scams, policy violations or straight up financial fraud are perpetrated by bad actors with location spoofing as an enabler.
But the days in which they are able to easily spoof location have come to an end for the platforms leaning on the right solutions to detect this.
Location Spoofing Detection and Address Verification are among the two most powerful tools to help fraud fighters with several different use cases.
Andre Ferraz, CEO and co-founder at Incognia talked with Joe Mitdlyng, Director of Sales Engineering at Incognia, and Morgan Grandi, Customer Success Director at Incognia, to discuss the ins and outs of many of the use cases encountered by them.
They talk about some of the possible implementations and real-life examples of how location spoofing detection and real-time address verification can halt many policy abuse and fraud schemes.

    Trust & Safety Cost Effectiveness

    Trust & Safety Cost Effectiveness

Content moderation is one of the most costly activities and departments in today’s digital platforms.
The investment volumes in content moderation are pretty staggering: in the case of marketplace platforms with listings, that can reach more than a couple hundreds of millions of dollars each year. There are news of a certain social media platform that spent more than $15 billion dollars to fight fake news since 2016.
It is usual that bad actors fake their identity when opening an account in digital platforms if they want to post fake content and fake listings, in the case of marketplaces and social media.
I keep wondering: Why digital platforms and trust & safety teams keep focusing most of their resources and time in fighting bad content instead of finding and blocking bad actors?
They need to do it at the identity level, not at the account or content level.
Stopping bad actors would nip the evil in the bud and save millions of dollars in content moderation.
Read about this topic in our blog: How to make Trust & Safety more cost effective.
