The guys sit down with Chris Porter and F-16 pilot Scott Butler to discuss two very different hunting tag outcomes… have a great tag, now what? And don’t have a tag, now what? “The logistics king Porter” drew a coveted PIW mule deer tag, and they walked through his plans for approaching a tag of this caliber and what he is doing right now to ensure success this fall in terms of e-scouting, weapon practice, and narrowing down a place to hunt. Then on the opposite spectrum, Scott didn’t draw a single tag this year. The guys outline a plan of attack using a GOHUNT membership to research all of the leftover tag opportunities, secondary draws, first-come-first-served tags, over-the-counter hunts, and much more. Dan and his wife Karen Gates from Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management stop by the GOHUNT podcast studio on this week's episode. We have all become more aware of the important work that CRWM is doing on behalf of all hunters, but on this week's episode we sit down to get to know Dan and Karen on a more personal level. We explore Dan and Karen's background in the outdoors and why their passion for wildlife and hunting runs so deep. We also dive into the anti-hunting movement and what is currently happening in their efforts to eliminate mountain lion, bobcat, and all hunting. We discuss the approaching deadline of July 5th where 124,238 verified signatures from registered voters must be collected in order for the anti-hunting groups to move the initiative to the ballot later in November. We talk about how to get involved as hunters and how to speak up for our right to hunt and fish. Now is a critical time to get involved; this is a great episode for every hunter, no matter what state you live in or hunt.
