Your 9 to 5 Is Not the Enemy: Brandon Positive B White on Faith, Consistency, and Funding Your Purpose - Episode 49

What if the thing standing between you and your purpose is not your circumstances, but your patience? I have to be honest with you. This conversation gave me so much life. I sat down with Brandon White, known to the world as “Positive B” White, and I walked away reminded of something we all need to hear again. There are no shortcuts worth taking. The process is the point. Brandon is a motivational speaker, five time author, radio show host, and the founder of Positive Passionate Motivated, his advertising company dedicated to amplifying real success stories. He works in the aviation industry and yes, he still has his 9 to 5. And that is exactly what makes this conversation so refreshing. Because Brandon is not selling you a dream that skips the work. He is showing you what it looks like to build something real, one brick at a time, while life is still happening all around you. He talks about the six to seven years he spent missing family holidays and weekends because of his schedule at work. He talks about working two jobs, saving tax returns, and funneling overtime pay into his dreams. He talks about the microwave mentality that is robbing this generation of the very thing they are chasing. And he talks about how his daughter now sits in the radio station testing the mics before they go on air. That last part got me. We also get into the green grass conversation, and I will just say, my husband went all the way in on our lawn and I am so glad he did. Because the lesson it taught me about comparison, patience, and doing the actual work is one I will never forget. This episode is for the 18 to 30 year old who is trying to figure it all out. It is for the person who has been looking over the fence at someone else's journey and wondering why theirs does not look the same. And it is for anyone who has been tempted to walk away from their 9 to 5 before it has finished doing its job. Purpose is more than a buzzword. It is the anchor for meaning, fulfillment, and significance, and it will hold you steady even when life gets hard. Your story is not random. It is guiding you toward your why. So start the conversation, take the first step, and trust that the purpose already inside you is worth pursuing. Hit play and let this episode be the nudge you needed today. When You Don’t See It, Do It Anyway with Antonia G.M. Lightbourne - Episode 48

There is a girl or boy out there right now who does not know why they are  here. They do not know if it is worth staying. And they need this episode. This week I sat with someone I have admired from a distance, and I am so glad we finally got on that call together. Antonia G.M. Lightbourne is a purpose activist, a youth champion, a speaker, a published author, and the visionary behind a movement that has received official government recognition in the Bahamas. But long before any of that, she was a teenager sitting in darkness, asking God if she even had a reason to be here. Antonia takes us back to the divorce that shattered her world as a child, the depression and low self-esteem that followed her all the way into salvation, the imposter syndrome that had her literally going missing when her name was about to be called. And then she takes us all the way forward to standing before the Prime Minister (of The Bahamas), lining up rocks as a little girl that her grandfather said would one day be people. Yes. That kind of episode. We talk about obedience as an act of courage, what happens when God says go and everything inside you says no, and what it means to die to yourself so that the people assigned to you can actually receive what they need. We talk about Purpose Awareness Month, a whole national movement born from one woman saying yes to a vision she could not yet see clearly. And there is something in this conversation for the person who has been running, for the leader who has been making excuses, for the young person who still does not know what they are here for, and for anyone who has ever felt like the darkness was too familiar, too comfortable, maybe even too safe. It is not too late. It is not too big. And it is not about you anyway. God is more invested in you discovering your purpose than you will ever be. Her vibrant communication style has opened doors in radio hosting on Joy 101.9fm, public speaking, and event production. A mentor to many, Antonia has been named among the top 40 most influential youth under 40 in the Bahamas, recognized as a top 48 Millennial by Project Y Bahamas, and honored as the youngest inductee in the first cohort of the Youth Leaders’ Hall of Excellence in 2023. From Benchmarks to Breakthroughs: The Purpose Journey of Monty Lans - Episode 47

What if every dead end in your life was actually preparing you for where you were always meant to be? This episode stopped me in my tracks and I think it's going to do the same for you. I sat down with Monty Lans, one of the most authentic and gifted content creators I have had the pleasure of watching from the sidelines. And trust me, I watched for a while before I finally said, I have to get this man on the podcast. Because Monty is not just talking about purpose, he is living it out, boldly, unapologetically, and with a whole lot of humor along the way. Monty went from college basketball star with a full scholarship and a shot at playing overseas, to stand-up comedian performing alongside some of the biggest names in New York, to network marketer, to solar sales, to surviving the pandemic on unemployment and PPP loans and somehow, through all of it, landing exactly where God needed him to be: a full-time content creator and strategist helping people show up, build their brand, and use their gifts without apology. In this conversation, Monty takes us through the winding, unfiltered road of his purpose journey  and what comes out of it is something every single one of us needs to hear. We talk about passion, identity, comparison, faith, money, and what it really means to steward the gifts God has placed in your hands. This one is equal parts real talk and revelation, and I promise you will walk away with at least one thing that shifts something in you. Now press play. You are going to want to hear this one from the very beginning. Your detours were never dead ends, they were always the direction. From Rejection to Resilience: Candera Lomax’s Journey - Episode 46

At some point in life, we find ourselves standing in spaces we once dreamed of reaching, yet quietly wondering if we truly belong there. Success on the outside can often hide inner doubts, questions of worthiness, and moments of feeling like an imposter. In this episode, I sit down with a great friend, Candera Lomax, to talk about how purpose often unfolds through seasons of uncertainty, growth, and healing. Candera Lomax is an educator, mentor, author, and newly graduated doctoral scholar who now chairs and mentors doctoral students while helping develop a graduate counseling program at Oral Roberts University. While her accomplishments are remarkable, her journey to this moment included serious health challenges during the final stages of her doctorate, seasons of rejection, and years of wondering whether marriage would ever be part of her story. Eventually, love did arrive. Candera met her husband Herbert later in life, and because they both had clarity about what they wanted, their relationship moved quickly from meeting to marriage in about ten months. Yet as she shares honestly, the joy of marriage also surfaced deeper layers of healing connected to past trauma and the weight of purity culture. One of the most powerful moments she describes is the day she spoke compassionately to her inner child, a step that became a turning point in her healing journey. We also talk about how Candera discovered her deeper sense of purpose. During a leadership meeting where imposter syndrome showed up strongly, she experienced a moment of clarity about the work she felt called to do helping young women discover their beauty, purpose, and destiny. That realization eventually led to the creation of Blossoms, and through her work and her book Rock That Dress: Embracing Your Unique Design, she reminds us that we don’t have to wear someone else’s purpose, the one designed for our lives already fits. After graduating from the then College of the Bahamas in 2007, she spent eight years teaching Religious Studies at S.C. McPherson Junior High School. When Grief Changes You But Does Not Define You with Alexis Hunter - Episode 44

What do you do when the life you built with someone suddenly ends? I want you to really sit with that. When you are married, you grow together. You discover parts of yourself through conversation, conflict, compromise, and shared dreams. Marriage is a continuous unfolding. So what happens when that unfolding is interrupted without warning? In this deeply transparent conversation, I sit down with Alexis Hunter to talk about what it truly means to be widowed young and left holding conversations that will never be finished. At 29 years old, Alexis had what many would describe as the dream. She was married, raising her son, owned her home, and was serving as a National Marketing Director for an international nonprofit organization. Then on May 3, 2019, her husband was involved in a devastating car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. After three months of fighting for his life, he passed away on August 3, 2019. Everything changed. And what moved me most about Alexis is not just what she lost. It is how she chose to respond to what was left. Grief reshaped her life. It forced new questions. Who am I now? What does my future look like? How do I honor what was while still stepping toward what can be? This episode is not just about widowhood. It is about identity, faith, and rebuilding when the life you planned no longer exists. I believe this deeply. Grief will change you, but it does not get to define you. If your story has ever been interrupted, this conversation will remind you that a broken timeline does not mean a canceled purpose. Finding Your Assignment: Overcoming Victimhood and Living Purposefully with Tbo Touch - Episode 43

One of the most profound moments in this conversation came when I listened to Tbo Touch, a South African broadcaster and global thought leader, reframe desire itself. He spoke openly about the danger of confusing what we want with what we are actually built to carry. With striking honesty, he shared that there were seasons where he found himself recovering from things he once prayed for, experiences, access, opportunities, and influence, only to realize they were never meant to be permanent fixtures in his life. Not everything we want is good for us. Not everything we desire is safe for us. And not everything we can access is something we have the capacity to contain. Through fasting and prayer, Tbo Touch explained how discernment sharpened his prayers, shifting them from “Lord, give me more” to “Lord, give me only what I can steward.” His prayer was no longer about excess, but precision, not more than he is built for, not less than he is assigned, exactly what aligns with his growth, character, and calling. He shared how this season of life marked a turning point, where wisdom and revelation now sit at the top of his hierarchy of needs. Not visibility. Not gigs. Not endorsements. Not applause. Growth. I found myself reflecting on a deeper question. If God is only good when things are abundant, what happens when they are stripped away? But if God is good because we are growing, then fruitfulness is no longer self serving. It becomes generational. This opened the door for me to expand the conversation by reframing fasting beyond food, inviting listeners to examine what truly has control over them. I shared my own journey of fasting sugar after realizing it had become an emotional and physical dependency. What followed was not deprivation. It was clarity, healing, energy, discipline, and deeper intimacy with God. What I thought I needed, God replaced with something better. Showing Up Courageously: Purpose, Growth, and Leadership with Jourdan Guyton - Episode 42

Sometimes showing up does not look polished. Sometimes it looks like tears, a shaky voice, and the decision to speak anyway. And sometimes that is exactly what someone else needs. In this episode of The Purpose Finder Podcast, I sit down with Jourdan Guyton for a conversation about purpose, courage, and what it means to keep showing up even when life feels heavy. Jourdan shares her journey from growing up in Hawaii to working in television, stepping in front of the camera, and eventually building a business that helps women show up and sell with alignment and integrity. We talk openly about grief, faith, and community, including how losing her mother reshaped not only Jourdan’s life but the way she leads and serves other women. This conversation is a reminder that we are never truly alone, and that our willingness to show up honestly can be the very thing someone else needs to hear in their own season of struggle. Jourdan also shares what it really takes to build sustainable success, from prioritizing gratitude and humility to embracing the discomfort and consistency required to grow. We unpack the truth about abundance, alignment, and the courage it takes to keep going, especially when the work feels unseen or imperfect. If you are navigating growth, entrepreneurship, grief, or the ongoing work of reconnecting your head and your heart, this episode will meet you where you are. It’s a conversation about showing up as you are, trusting the process, and continuing forward with purpose and intention.
