Bills Draft Addition Quickly Making More Sense

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss a handful of Buffalo Bills and NFL topics, including some data uncovered that shows the Bills taking a cornerback in the second round wasn't nearly the reach many critics thought it was. Buffalo Rumblings (the Bills blog on SB Nation) had an article published by new lead content producer Chris Trapasso with data that shows that non-starting Bills cornerbacks have played plenty during their lengthy/current playoff run. So much so, in fact that it makes their second-round selection of Davison Igbinosun feel a lot wiser, even though he's not projected to be a starter and may not be a starter for years to come. The guys discuss the data and cite examples even casual Bills fans will remember from recent playoff failures as a reason why you need to have not just depth at cornerback, but the highest quality depth possible. Also, the NFL draft has come and gone and we're nearly a week into May, yet eight(!) of the Bills top 14 defensive players from last year are still unsigned free agents. What does that say about the talent from last year's defensive unit and/or what does that say about former head coach (and de facto defensive coordinator) Sean McDermott? Who are three current Bills players that it would be easy to be completely undecided on how you feel about their prospects for the 2026 season? Patrick takes a stab at it.  That plus Matt does an AFC reverse power rankings, which NFL team could be the league's biggest flop this year and plenty more. Plenty of Sabres Takes & Keys To Beating Montreal

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has plenty of Buffalo Sabres takes from the Boston first round series in addition to three keys he sees to the Sabres beating Montreal in the upcoming Eastern Conference semifinals. Obviously it's an electric time for Sabres fans, whether you're a diehard who's suffered through the years of being inept or new on the scene freshly on the bandwagon. Patrick has plenty to say about that and about this team after it closed out Boston in six games. Among things discussed is loving Zach Benson because he's yours even though everyone else thinks of him along the same lines Buffalo fans think of Brad Marchand. Also, Boston was competitive with Buffalo but Patrick thinks the Bruins knew at the end of the day they were in over their heads against the Sabres, something Montreal is surely not feeling after getting past Tampa. Will this Sabres postseason run strengthen or weaken the chances Alex Tuch re-signs with the team? Patrick says that the emergence of another player could make a Tuch return complicated.  That plus plenty of other Sabres thoughts, the three things that must happen to defeat the Canadians in this upcoming series and much more. Sabres Fandom Reaching Fever Pitch

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss several Buffalo Sabres and fan topics, including an examination of if the fever pitch behavior of fans lately is a sign of a great sports town or one that's kinda jumping on the bandwagon. Good luck going to a bar or restaurant for a Sabres playoff game without it being packed, or not having to compete at Dicks's Sporting Goods or other retail stores where Sabres merch is flying off the shelves. Don't get us wrong---this is all amazing not to mention long overdue, but does it say anything negative about the fan base along the way? To be fair, getting a Sabres ticket in March or April in recent years in the secondary market has been cheaper than going to the movies. The guys attempt to have a nuanced discussion without pissing off fans while doing so, very unlikely of course. Also, Buffalo fans are letting Boston sports fans absolutely have it recently on Twitter following the Sabres dismantling of the Bruins in the first round of the playoffs, plus several other Boston teams struggling this year. Is it all in good fun or a petty look? Maybe, it's both. Other topics discussed include trying to figure out which one player not named Jack Eichel or Sam Reinhart from the Sabres drought era teams they wish could be on the current playoff roster.  That plus did Joe enjoy watching "The Pitt" based on Patrick's recommendation and much more. Chris Trapasso Talks Bills Defensive Changes & Draft Analysis

On this milestone episode No. 1300 of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo Rumblings team site producer Chris Trapasso to discuss several Buffalo Bills topics, including a look at the personnel changes we can expect on the 2026 Bills defense and what Chris thought of Buffalo's recent draft class haul. Chris has been around the NFL media in various capacities for a number of years and just this past week signed on to lead SB Nation's Buffalo Bills section, Buffalo Rumblings. Chris discusses the process of getting the job and how he plans on bringing his creativity and connections to help further along what's been a very good resource of news and entertainment for Bills fans. One of the biggest offseason stories for the Bills, of course was the firing of head coach Sean McDermott and promotion of Joe Brady. One of the most important moves Brady made was hiring Jim Leonhard as his defensive coordinator. Chris reflects back a few months on Brady's decision and how he feels about the various personnel pieces Buffalo has added to the defense and how he expects these guys to contribute. Obviously that includes a recent draft class that saw the first two and six of the first eight Bills selections come on the defensive side of the ball. Chris talks about why he liked Kalem Elarms-Orr as much as he did before the draft, some of the things he's looking forward to shaking out now that he's covering the team full-time and plenty more. Make sure to follow Chris on Twitter @ChrisTrapasso. You can also check out Buffalo Rumblings to stay updated with Trapasso and his staffs excellent work there. Buffalo Bills Biggest Draft Winners & Losers

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss among other things to discuss the biggest winners and losers as it pertains to the Buffalo Bills on the heels of last week's 2026 NFL Draft. The draft created some favorable and subsequent less favorable momentum for certain prospects themselves or certain veterans currently on the roster. The guys discuss some of the Bills biggest draft winners and why they are, including a pair of veteran defensive tackles, Kaleb Elarms-Orr, a defensive back free agent addition, the likely QB 2and the defensive coordinator, Jim Leonhard. Conversely, the draft may not have been good news for third year wide receiver Keon Coleman despite the recent onslaught of positive publicity. It also may not be the best for last year's number one draft pick Max Hairston. Also, Jalon Kilgore's drafting could be bad news for either Damar Hamlin or Geno Stone, Javon Solomon's chances of having a path to be an impactful edge rusher took a hit and wondering if there's a lack of confidence in offensive lineman Tylan Grable. The guys also reveal what team(s) they think have had the best offseason (so far) in the AFC and much more. Today’s episode is brought to you by the law offices of William Mattar. Sabres Blow Chance To Clinch In Game Five (LIVE Reaction)

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by broadcaster Steve Bermel for plenty of live reaction just moments after the Buffalo Sabres blew an opportunity to clinch their playoff series against Boston on home ice, losing to the Bruins 2-1 in game five. The Sabres scored a power play goal (wow!!!) less than four minutes into the game but couldn't get a puck past Jeremy Swayman the rest of the night. The guys talk about an offense that went stagnant for a lot of reasons, ranging from Tage Thompson having a bad game to the Ryan McLeod line struggling and perhaps the most concerning thing to come from this game, a Noah Ostlund ankle injury that could result in the talented rookie being done for the playoffs. This means a returning Josh Norris is really going to have to step up for Buffalo going forward. Despite not getting it done, Steve tells us why he's still confident the Sabres will advance, and thinks Lindy Ruff will go back to Alex Lyon between the pipes in game six in Boston on Friday night. They also spend time getting Steve's thoughts on the Buffalo Bills draft selections, the Buffalo Bandits seeing their run of three consecutive NLL championships officially come to an end and much more. Bills 2026 Draft Review: Likes, Dislikes & Hindsight For Each Selection

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, the dust is starting to settle on the 2026 NFL Draft and Patrick Moran shares his thoughts on each of the Buffalo Bills nine selections--what he liked, didn't like and wishes what would've happened with each of the picks. The Bills traded down three times and ultimately out of the first round but that doesn't mean Buffalo's draft wasn't eventful. In fact, quite the opposite. It seems there's a wide ranging perspective on how the Bills went about their process and if nothing else, a slight trade up for a cornerback in the second round was certainly eye opening and if not a shocker. Patrick goes through each pick Buffalo made and tries to explain what he liked, what he didn't like and what he would've done with each pick were he the one making the call. Like probably many of you, Patrick felt the Bills sweet spot of the draft was the fourth and fifth rounds and in fact, thinks a few of the day three picks could end up being the best selections when we look back at this draft in a few years. Also, Patrick shares of a few of his favorite picks around the NFL from each of the seventh rounds. That plus the Sabres are close to advancing in the Stanley Cup playoffs and plenty more! Sabres Dominate Game Four & Bills Draft Review (Live Reaction)

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to discuss the Buffalo Sabres game four road domination of Boston that has them within a game of advancing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in addition to thoughts and reaction from the 2026 Buffalo Bills draft over the past few days. Last Thursday the Sabres took back home ice advantage with a 3-1 win in Boston. On Sunday they took a stranglehold on the series. Buffalo didn't just beat Boston, they embarrassed them on their home ice, 6-1 in a game that showed Buffalo's clearly the superior talented team. The guys discuss the excitement of just being one game away from a second round meeting with either Tampa Bay or Montreal. Meanwhile another NFL Draft has come and come and Brandon Beane made seven trades, including six that had them moving back. In the end Buffalo ended up selecting nine players and the guys have plenty of thoughts on each of them, what they liked and disliked the most from this draft, where they think the Bills roster stands after the draft, what moves may still be out there to come and much more.
