老外说“I’m in the black”是什么意思？

外教说要请客吃大餐并说了一句"I'm in the black"
同事看着外教的蓝色外套一脸不解地问
“他不是穿着蓝色衣服吗？怎么说black？”

01“I'm in the black”是什么意思？
in the black=（账户上）有钱，有盈余
所以老外说“I'm in the black”意思是“我有闲钱了”
例：This year our business is in the black.
今年我们的生意有盈余。
而穿着黑色衣服用in black
例：He was dressed in black. 他穿着黑色衣服。

02“in the red”是什么意思？
和in the black意思相反
in the red = 亏空；负债；有赤字
因为老外喜欢用黑色笔来标记盈利用红色的笔来表示亏损
例：The company was already in the red to the extent of more than three million pounds.
这家公司已经出现了超过300万英镑的负债。

03“in the dark”是什么意思？
身处黑暗里，对周围环境是模糊不清的
in the dark表示：蒙在鼓里，浑然不知
例：I managed to keep my parents in the dark about this.
我设法让父母对这件事一无所知。
如果想表达“在黑暗里”可以用in the darkness
例：
In the darkness I bumped into a chair.

04“in the bag”是什么意思？
in the bag除了“在袋子里”
还可以引申用来表达“十拿九稳；已是囊中之物”
例：Once we'd scored the third goal, the game was pretty much in the bag.
我们进了第三个球后，比赛取胜已是十拿九稳了。
