I Get It, Mama.

The Selfhood Network

Hosted by Ronewa Mudau, “I Get It, Mama” is a healing sanctuary where mothers finally have space to feel deeply, release what they’ve been carrying, and gently find their way back to themselves. Here, we embrace the duality of motherhood — the tenderness and the overwhelm — through honest, grounding conversations that honor both the struggle and the profound gift it is to mother. This is where healing happens softly, one episode at a time.

Postpartum Depression: Let’s talk about it

Postpartum depression is a conversation we need to have — openly, honestly, and without shame. In this episode of I Get It, Mama, we begin a deeper conversation about postpartum depression and maternal mental health. I share a little more about my own experience as a new mother and what it felt like to struggle emotionally while also trying to navigate the realities of motherhood. Because you can love your baby deeply and still not be okay. You can be grateful and overwhelmed. You can be functioning and struggling. You can be surrounded by people and still feel incredibly alone. This episode isn’t about diagnosing anyone or having all the answers. It’s about opening the conversation — creating space for mothers to recognise that what they’re experiencing matters, and that asking for help does not make them a bad mother. This is just the beginning. Over the coming episodes, we’ll explore postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, maternal mental health, identity, support systems, asking for help, healing, and what it can look like to find yourself again after becoming a mother. If you’re a new mama, a mother who has been through postpartum depression, or someone who loves and supports a mother — this conversation is for you. You don’t have to carry it alone. Welcome to the conversation. 🤍 If you’re struggling or concerned about your mental health after having a baby, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional. If you feel you may hurt yourself or your baby, seek urgent medical help immediately. You are not alone mama.

    Rest, Surrender & Unexpected Grace

I almost thought this month’s Healing Mama Circle was falling apart. The mugs didn’t arrive. The refreshments were forgotten. The massage experience fell through at the last minute. But what happened instead reminded me of something powerful: When we surrender, God often does something far better than what we planned. In this episode, I’m sharing the behind-the-scenes story of our June Healing Mama Circle, the unexpected anointing ritual that emerged, the women who held one another, and the reminder that motherhood was never meant to be carried alone. If you’re a mother who feels tired, overwhelmed, or like you’re carrying everyone and everything, this conversation is for you. In this episode: ✨ The lesson I learned about surrender ✨ Why community matters so much in motherhood ✨ What happened when I stopped trying to hold everything together ✨ The beautiful moments that reminded me why Healing Mama Circle exists ✨ Encouragement for the mama who feels weary and heavy-laden Scripture: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28 🤍 About Healing Mama Circle: Healing Mama Circle is a monthly premium community experience for mothers—a safe space for rest, reflection, healing, meaningful conversations, and connection. You’re Not Behind, You’re Rebuilding: The Pressure to Bounce Back After Motherhood.

There’s a quiet pressure many mothers carry — the pressure to bounce back, to rebuild, to “have it together” again. But what if some seasons were never meant for building? In this episode, we explore the reality of motherhood seasons that are less about progress and more about survival… and what it looks like to rebuild gently, honestly, and without pressure. We speak about: – the urgency to “get back to normal” – allowing yourself to simply be where you are – the fear and resistance that comes with starting again – and why just because something is from God doesn’t mean it will be easy This is a conversation for the mother who feels behind… and needs to remember that she is not starting over — she is rebuilding from truth 🤍 ————— In this episode: * The pressure to “bounce back” after motherhood * Why some seasons are meant for survival, not productivity * Letting go of timelines and expectations * Rebuilding identity after motherhood * Understanding that purpose can be both God-led and hard * Breaking down “the blessing of the Lord adds no sorrow” Key takeaway: You are not behind. You are rebuilding — and that requires grace.
