    Two listeners. Two encounters with missing time and the old folklore that explains where it went. Driving home sober from a wedding on a quiet Welsh A-road, Bethan rounds a bend she knows well and the world goes silent: engine, tyres, radio, all muted at once. The colour drains out. The air turns thick and grey. A tall, still figure watches from a farm gate. Then she's suddenly five miles further on, with no memory of the miles between, and a journey that should've taken thirty-five minutes has taken over an hour. For a week after, she dreams of the figure, closer each night. Then Wesley, a thirty-year aviation mechanic in Taos, is driving his fourteen-year-old daughter home from a camping trip when a steady amber light starts pacing the truck. He stops. It stops. Then it drops, hangs above the sagebrush, and shoots off at an angle and speed his brain still won't accept, in total silence. He remembers a few minutes. His daughter is certain it was an hour.     MONDAY MAILTIME: The Mirror We Couldn't Move & It Wanted Me To Knock Back

    Two listeners. Two hauntings that weren't asking to be heard, they were asking to be let in. Callum lives alone in an 1890s Aberdeen tenement when the knocking starts: always three slow knocks, always on the internal hallway wall with nothing behind it. It only knocks when he's in the hall and it seems to want him to answer. One night he knocks back. It replies instantly, right under his hand. Then the knocking begins to move through the flat, until it's behind his headboard in a room it had never touched. Then Renata and her husband buy an 1890s house in Galveston, and the elderly seller leaves them with four words: "Don't move the mirror." The figures never come from the mirror, they step through every other doorway in the house. Until the night her baby son screams at the glass, and for a second she sees a reflected hallway with extra doors that aren't in her house.
