MONDAY MAILTIME: The Lost 20 Minutes & The Star That Followed Us Home

Two listeners. Two encounters with missing time and the old folklore that explains where it went. Driving home sober from a wedding on a quiet Welsh A-road, Bethan rounds a bend she knows well and the world goes silent: engine, tyres, radio, all muted at once. The colour drains out. The air turns thick and grey. A tall, still figure watches from a farm gate. Then she's suddenly five miles further on, with no memory of the miles between, and a journey that should've taken thirty-five minutes has taken over an hour. For a week after, she dreams of the figure, closer each night. Then Wesley, a thirty-year aviation mechanic in Taos, is driving his fourteen-year-old daughter home from a camping trip when a steady amber light starts pacing the truck. He stops. It stops. Then it drops, hangs above the sagebrush, and shoots off at an angle and speed his brain still won't accept, in total silence. He remembers a few minutes. His daughter is certain it was an hour. Producer Dom unpacks the darker folklore: the Welsh tradition of being taken "into the grey," the watcher bound to the threshold who marks those who pass, and the New Mexico "star that comes down", that pulls the more open witness deeper into its time than the guarded one. What happens when two people share an encounter… but not the same amount of time inside it? A Create Podcast Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

YVETTE INVESTIGATES: The Ghosts of War - The Dead Who Never Left the Battlefield

August 1914, the retreat from Mons. Exhausted British soldiers, outnumbered and about to be annihilated, look up to see shining figures in the sky between them and the German guns. Somehow, impossibly, the army escapes. And the first great ghost story of the modern age is born. This week, Yvette Fielding investigates five hauntings from five wars, across five corners of the world. The angels of Mons and the phantom archers of Agincourt. The marching dead of Ypres, still going up the line a century on. The blood-soaked Sunken Lane at Antietam. The phantom hammering of the Burma Death Railway, where a man died for every sleeper laid. And the thirsting soldier of the Chaco, still stepping out of the scrub to beg travellers for water he'll never drink. From guardian angels and phantom bowmen, to hungry ghosts and spirit houses, to the darkest theory of all: that a battlefield can become a doorway, held open by suffering, and that not everything marching through it ever wore a uniform. Why does war, in every land and every age, leave the same restless dead behind? Was it the souls of the fallen, trapped by the manner of their dying? The land itself, remembering?Or something older, drawn in by the killing? Listen, and decide for yourself. 📧 paranormalactivitypod@gmail.com | 📱 @paranormalactivitypod 🎧 Early episodes + exclusive bonus content: paranormalpod.co.uk A Create Podcast Hosted on Acast.
