    Faithfulness

    I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 11th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Numbers 14:24: ”But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.”  What a promise from God! Do you know that Joshua and Caleb were 80 years old when their real work began, when they had to take over from Moses and take a grumbling, moaning, rebellious nation into the promised land? What a task. God loved Caleb. You know Caleb had a spirit that was totally different to anybody else's. When Joshua said to Caleb, right at the end, ”Because of your faithfulness, you can have anything you want.” He said, ”Give me the big mountains where the big giants live.” Over 80 years old. Now come on boys, come on ladies, it’s never too late. Faithfulness, even when the crowd did not remain faithful!  If I had to ask you, ”Give me one word to describe Caleb?” He was faithful, that’s what he was, and that’s why God loved him so much. He did not become discouraged by what other people thought of him. He refused to be influenced by the negative talk and attitude of the majority. He remained steadfast, keeping his eyes fixed on God, right through his lifetime. He didn’t blow hot and cold, and he didn’t allow the tough things in life to keep him back from the fight, and of course, what happened? Yes, he had the victory.  Today, many of you, including me must be careful that the fear of man does not hold us back. Caleb had no fear of man. He didn’t care what people thought of him; his only concern was what God thought of him. Today, ask God to give you that same different spirit, not the spirit of this world but the Spirit of God, the Spirit that is resolute.  Hebrews 12:1: ”Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses…” We’ve got people in heaven that are cheering us on, we’ve got to finish strong! We’ve got to be like Caleb. We’ve got to be leaders. Jesus Christ bless you today as you remain faithful to God. He will not let you down.  Goodbye.

    Jesus is Coming Back

    I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 10th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of Luke 24:51: ”… while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven.”  Then we go to Acts 1:11: “…Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” Then the last scripture is Hebrews 12:1: ”Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,…”  Jesus is coming back again! Oh Lord, we can’t wait. Today would not be soon enough. He’s coming back the same way He left. He left from the top of the Mount of Olives just outside Jerusalem. He said He’s coming back again to fetch you and me. Oh Granny, keep strong! Oh, Grandad, keep your eyes lifted up! Young man, young lady just keep running the race! That is the way we are going to finish this race. I am what you call a cloud watcher. Every day when I get up, and I look at those magnificent clouds building up, I say, ”Lord, is it today?” He’s coming back the same way He left. He’s coming back from heaven to earth in the clouds to come and to fetch you and me and to take us home to be with Him in glory, but until that time, you and I have to keep on running this race.  Keep on looking up, opening our eyes and thanking Jesus for every single opportunity every day we have to sow good seed because He’s coming back, as He promised, to take us home to be with Him in paradise. So today, remember, if Christ is for us, who can possibly stand against us.  Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

    Gentleness

    I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 9th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 2 Samuel 22:36: “Your gentleness has made me great”. That is what King David said about God. Then we go to Matthew 19:14: “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” What had happened was that the disciples were trying to chase the little children away from Jesus because He was very tired. Gentleness - gentleness means mild, kind, tender, sympathetic, understanding, compassionate, soft. Oh, my dear friend, you can gauge the heart of a man or a woman by the way they treat little children. As I get older, I am becoming observant of that very fact.  I will go to a crowded place, I will sit quietly and watch the way the people treat the little children. The man who can stop in his busyness and get down on his knees so he has the same eye contact as a little child, and say, “How are you?” - and speak to them, oh, that is a man who is really walking with God. William Arnott said, “The gentleness of Christ is the comeliest ornament that a Christian can wear.” - The most beautiful ornament. When I see a man or a woman get down on their knees sometimes in the dust, just to engage a small child, I see the gentleness of Christ, and it is like a very special ornament. It warms them to my soul. On the other hand, unfortunately, if a man or a woman is too busy, too busy organising things, too busy running around, they just about run over the top of the children; there is a problem there. Check your heart. What would Jesus do? I tell you what He would do. He would stop the show! He would stop the meeting because one little child just wanted to greet Him, and probably give them a wonderful hug and love them. Let’s do that today.     The Lord is with Us

    I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 8th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.  We start in Psalm 34:19: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him from them all.” Then we go to Romans 5:3-4. Paul says: “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”  I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word “persecution” It said, “subject to prolonged hostility and ill treatment.” How many people are being persecuted today in the world? Probably more than ever before. We are hearing about atrocities taking place in India, where Christian churches are being burnt down, and Christians are being martyred for their faith. We hear about the church in China, also severely persecuted, never mind the Middle East - what about Syria? The Lord is with us even though the persecution is increasing. But what I want to talk to you about today is not the persecution in the churches around the world. I am talking about at home, oh yes, in your very own home. Mom, dad, stop hassling your children because they want to go to church. Please don’t do that. I want to say to dad, don’t worry if you are getting persecuted at work because of your stand for Jesus Christ. The Lord says that He will deliver you from them all. I want to say to that young student, that young girl who is standing tall for the Lord, “Uncle Angus, it is like I am all on my own.” No, you're not all on your own. Remember the prophet said that and the Lord said, “There are another 7,000 prophets in the next valley.” But stand tall, do not compromise your faith for anybody or anything. Even that relationship that you are in, young man. Control yourself until the day of your wedding, otherwise you will get yourself into a terrible position and you will be persecuted for your actions.  We really need to rejoice when we are hard-pressed, because that means we are doing something right. People don’t like what you are doing because they don’t like the stand you are making for Christ. So if you don’t drink alcohol, that is fine, but don’t compromise for the sake of being popular. Today, stand tall because He will deliver you from all of those persecutors. Jesus bless you and goodbye.

    No Fear

    I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 7th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Numbers 14:9: “…and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.” Then, of course, we go to that well-known scripture in 2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”  The only thing we have to fear today is fear itself. Now remember, twelve spies went into the Land of Milk and Honey, and they came back with a report. Two of them with a good report and ten with a bad report: “There are giants in there, and if we go in there they are going to kill us”. But you see, Joshua and Caleb, and by the way, they were not youngsters (those men were in their eighties), they said, “We need to go up.” They had their eyes on Jesus, the other ten spies had their eyes on the situation and that is maybe your problem today and mine - our eyes are on the wrong place!  The only thing we need to fear is fear itself. How do you combat fear? I can hear some ladies saying to me, “But how do I get rid of this fear?” Well, it is a very simple answer. It is found in Romans 10:17:  “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” That is how you get rid of fear, by faith, not anything else, and you get faith by reading your Bible and also believing it. Remember, faith is not a feeling. Faith is a fact, it is a reality, and that is how Joshua and Caleb lived, and they went into the Promised Land by faith, faith in God. I want to tell you about fear and what fear can do to you. Fear paralyses you. My one son is a horse trainer, and he told me a while back that I should know that, I am also riding horses. He said, “Dad, when you are within one metre, that is three feet, from a horse, that horse knows whether you are afraid or not, and that will determine how that horse responds to you, because if you are afraid of that horse, straight away that horse wonders, “Why is that person afraid?” And they become very fearful themselves, and that is when they sometimes bolt or they try and buck you off, but if you walk up to that horse in faith and love, pat him nicely on the neck and hug him and say, “Hello my boy, today, you and I are going for a ride”, then you’ll enjoy your ride.  Remember, God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.     Contentment

    I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 6th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 21:22: ”Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”  That’s what Jesus said to Peter when Peter wanted to know what was going to happen to John. I think the Lord is saying to you and me this morning that what other people are doing is not your business. They belong to God and God will deal with them in His own time. I think of Saul of Tarsus, who persecuted the Christians terribly, and then he got converted, and became Paul the Apostle. Probably, in my humble opinion, the greatest of all the apostles in the Bible, and I can hear a young man, a young girl, saying, ”I wish that I could be like Paul the Apostle.” Well if you look at 2 Corinthians 11:23, you will see how much it cost Paul to be an apostle for Jesus Christ. He gives a whole list of what he went through to follow the Master in his calling. Jesus gives us enough grace for our work and our calling. He says that His grace is sufficient for you and me. Do not be concerned about how other people are living.  “Can you drink of the cup?” That’s what He asked James and John. They said, ”We can.” And He said, ”and you will.” I want to tell you that 1 Timothy 6:6, is a very special scripture to me, ”Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”  Be satisfied with your lot, where you are in life, and be grateful to God, and pray for those who have a tremendous burden to carry, but don’t ask for things that you cannot handle, because those will trip you up eventually. The Lord knows how much you can take, and as He said to Peter, ”It’s got nothing to do with you, what I’m going to do with John. You follow me.” Today, follow the Lord and be content with what you’ve got. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

    Attitude

    I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 5th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Joshua 14:8: ”Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God.”  Then we go to Numbers 13:33: ”There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Oh folks, how do you feel this morning? Do you feel like a son of God or do you feel like a grasshopper? That’s the question we need to ask ourselves. What is that giant in your life that is holding you back today from being an obedient child of God? You see the devil calls us grasshoppers. He says, you’ll never make it, you’re a failure, you messed up once before or twice or three times and you are done and dusted. No no! Jesus says that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Do you remember that beautiful song? It was written many years ago and some of the lyrics sound like this:  When others see a shepherd boy, God may see a king,Even though your life seems filled with ordinary things, In just a moment, He can touch you and everything will change,When others see a shepherd boy, God may see a king. I want to say to you today, God did not create you or me to be grasshoppers. He created us to be the sons of God. “Yes Angus, but you don’t know what I’m going through.” No I don’t, but I know that anything is possible and all things are possible for those who believe. Remember those two words, “But God”. When people say, ”You’ll never make it.” You say, “But God”. When people say, ”You’ve got no education, you’ll never qualify”, “But God”. When people say, ”You will never be healed, you are dying.” You say, “But God”. Now I want to pray for you, and I want to pray that God will turn you and me from grasshoppers into kings, into princes, into princesses. Father,  I pray in Jesus name, for my friend who is listening to this program right now.  Lord, change our outlook. Change our attitude. We are not grasshoppers, we are sons and daughters of the living God.  In Jesus name, amen. God bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

    Share a Meal

    I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 4th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to John 21:12:  “Jesus said to them, “Come and eat breakfast.” Then further down in verse 15, Jesus says to Peter: “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” Every time the Lord Jesus wanted to speak very directly, personally and intimately with his disciples, what did He say? “Come and have a meal.” In fact, the last time that He had a meal with His disciples, in the Upper Room, He taught them some very important truths. He taught them that if we are going to be servants of the Lord, then we have to humble ourselves. It is an intimate time, isn’t it, having a meal. There is no rushing, it is a heart-to-heart normally, because that is exactly what happened on the shore of the Sea of Galilee when Jesus asked Simon Peter, the most important question of all. “Do you love Me?” “Oh”, he says, “yes, I love You, Lord.” And then Jesus said, “Feed My lambs.” And of course, the disciples did just that. I love going into Central Africa and into the rural areas, where the people are very poor, but so loving and so generous. When you are invited into one of those huts, you sit in a circle and they bring in their meagre food. It is normally a big bowl of maize meal, and then they bring in a smaller bowl of the delicacy of meat made with beautiful gravy. We sit in a circle, and we take some of the maize meal and we make it into a round ball and then we very carefully dip it into the relish and we eat, but the main purpose is we talk to each other and we love each other.  Two of my children’s weddings were breakfast weddings. The one was in our farm shed and we sat around and spoke together for hours. Today, spend time with someone, invite them for breakfast and tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ.  Have a wonderful day and enjoy your breakfast.Goodbye.
