Infra’s $1.2trn fundraising comeback – but who really wins?

In this episode, Bruno Alves, Infrastructure Investor’s editor-in-chief, sits down with Americas editor Zak Bentley. They start with the latest Infrastructure Investor 100 ranking of the world’s largest managers, and analyse what it tells us about the evolving shape of the global infrastructure market. Blackstone: Industry needs to go beyond ‘do no harm’ in data centre development

In this special episode – based on a keynote interview done on 24 March at our Global Summit in Berlin – editor-in-chief Bruno Alves sits down with Sean Klimczak, Blackstone’s global head of infrastructure. As the world’s largest investor in data centres, a significant part of the discussion centred on how Blackstone is investing in the sector. Highlights included Klimczak’s call on the industry to move beyond a “do no harm” standard and add net benefits to the communities where data centres are built. He also spoke about how the data centre market will internationalise in 2026-27, with a particular focus on Asia-Pacific as a development hotspot. To mark the milestone, PERE Credit hosted a launch breakfast last week at New York’s One Vanderbilt, bringing together leading market participants from across the industry. Senior lending and investor relations professionals took part in a panel moderated by Daniel Cunningham, PERE Credit’s Europe editor. On this episode of The PERE Podcast, host McKenna Leavens is joined by Cunningham and Samantha Rowan, editor of PERE Credit, to unpack the key takeaways from the event and explore where the private real estate credit market is heading next. Are PE's best days behind it? An LP and GP discuss

Have expectations for private equity changed? What’s the role of the asset class in the portfolio these days? These are the questions that Dale Burgess, executive managing director for equities at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, and David Nowak, president of private equity firm Brookfield, tackle in the second episode of PEI Group's new Commitment Issues podcast miniseries. As the industry works through a backlog of unrealised assets, questions have arisen about performance, asset valuations and firms’ ability to acquire and sell companies in the time frame LPs have come to expect. For instance, average investment hold periods in private equity have now risen to around seven years, according to data from Bain & Company. Performance has to be even greater to achieve the same types of returns that private equity generated in past eras of cheaper debt. As Burgess and Nowak explore, this can present a significant challenge for some firms, while for others – particularly where operational improvement is an established part of the toolkit – the game hasn’t really changed.
