I have been an actuary for 26+ years. But I am also the pastor of my church and cover high school sports. My goal is to show that actuaries are more than just number-crunching introverts. This podcast will explore the non-actuarial pursuits of actuaries as they leave their desks and venture out into the wild.

Jon Forster is an actuary that is a former MMA fighter.  He wrestled in college at Rutgers before starting his career at Rutgers.  With the demands of his job and exams, Jon said he was out of shape.  As a result, he decided to pursue a career in MMA fighting.     Actuaries in the Wild highlights actuaries who have ventured from their desks to explore their passions beyond the traditional Actuarial Realm.  Kim Stoddard is a volleyball coach at Scarborough High School in Maine.  During her 5 years as head coach, she has won a State Championship and has advanced to the State Semifinals every season.  And her job as a volleyball coach led her to her first actuarial job.

    Actuaries in the Wild highlights actuaries who have ventured from their desks to explore their passions beyond the traditional Actuarial Realm.  Josh Youdovin is an actuary that sings in a chorus in his synagogue in Atlanta.  He has been singing actively in synagogues in Hartford, Hoboken and Atlanta since 2012, but his love of music began in his youth when he began taking piano lessons.  Josh talks about his experiences singing different types of Jewish hymns in choirs and choruses (and even what the differences is between the two) along with a stint with an actuarial orchestra. Josh even wrote his own actuarial parody which he performed on the podcast.
