    The unexpected gift

Sometimes, life has a way of surprising us with the sweetest little gifts, the ones we never could have dreamed up ourselves. Candace shares the story of Sid, her French bulldog, who found his way into their family after years of wanting a dog for her son. With her husband leading the way, all the pieces seemed to fall into place so quickly, and before she knew it, a little bundle of love had arrived. What Candace didn't expect was just how much this little Frenchie would wiggle his way into her heart, bringing an abundance of joy, laughter, and love to their family. Sid has become a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the things we think are meant for someone else end up being a gift for us, too. In this episode, Candace reflects on the unexpected gifts that find their way into our lives, often when we're not looking for them or even know we need them. What if there are beautiful little surprises already making their way toward us, just waiting for the right moment to arrive? Sid may be one of Candace's sweetest unexpected gifts, but who knows what other little pieces of magic life has tucked away for the days ahead? 💗 If you’re feeling the vibes… Subscribe, rate & review to help us grow this sweet little soul space! 🎧 Let’s stay connected: Follow along on Instagram @candacedanielledunaway If you’ve been touched by the magic shared here and want to support the podcast, you can now buy me a coffee ☕️ - Thank you for supporting this little corner of joy. 💛 buymeacoffee.com/candacedunaway Candace Dunaway is the host of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, a heart-centered space for healing, growth, and high-vibe living. Is feedback knocking at your door?

What happens when we ask for feedback and receive far more than we bargained for? Candace shares her experience of sending her book to an editor, only to discover that the story needed a complete overhaul. Her first reaction was to wonder whether she should simply put it away and move on. But as she sat with the feedback, she realized she agreed with every single piece of it. What began as one book eventually became two, and she found herself genuinely grateful for the perspective of someone with expertise she didn't have. The experience sparked a bigger reflection on the feedback that shows up in everyday life. Sometimes we invite it in, and sometimes it arrives without an invitation. We can take what resonates and leave the rest, but what happens when the same themes keep appearing in different situations? When our nervous system is sounding the alarm and we can't seem to find peace, perhaps there's something worth exploring. Candace invites listeners to get curious about what life might be reflecting back to them, what questions they could ask, and how a different perspective might create space for growth and evolution. After all, feedback doesn't have to be something we resist or fear. It can be an opportunity to see ourselves, our experiences, and our possibilities a little differently. Reachable vs. connected

Candace recently heard Oprah talking about the difference between being reachable and being connected, and it immediately brought her back to a conversation she had with a spiritual teacher. For a long time, Candace was incredibly reachable. If someone needed her, she was there. She offered support, showed up, listened, and made herself available. But she began to recognize that being available to people all the time didn't necessarily mean she felt connected to them—and sometimes that giving wasn't being reciprocated. This episode is a reflection on the patterns we create, the wounds and beliefs that can influence how we show up for others, and what happens when we begin to change those patterns. Being reachable doesn't always mean being connected. Giving doesn't always have to come with the expectation of getting something back. And sometimes creating healthier relationships starts with becoming a little more intentional about who we show up for and how. A little invitation to pause and ask: Am I actually connected, or have I simply become really good at being reachable? 💗 If you’re feeling the vibes… Subscribe, rate & review to help us grow this sweet little soul space! 🎧 Let’s stay connected: Follow along on Instagram @candacedanielledunaway If you’ve been touched by the magic shared here and want to support the podcast, you can now buy me a coffee ☕️ - Thank you for supporting this little corner of joy. 💛 buymeacoffee.com/candacedunaway Candace Dunaway is the host of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, a heart-centered space for healing, growth, and high-vibe living. GPS is a suggestion and our free will guides the way

Have you ever had a destination in mind, but no idea exactly how you’re going to get there? Today, a simple drive to the paint shop reminded Candace that life works much the same way. Just like our GPS can offer several different routes to the same destination, our own journey can unfold in ways we never could have planned. We may have a vision for where we’re going, but we don’t always need to know every turn along the way. Whatever you call it—God, the Universe, Divine Source, or something else—there may be a greater GPS guiding us toward where we’re meant to go. And we still have free will. We can take a different turn, make a choice, explore a detour, or even take the long way around. Maybe the magic isn't knowing exactly how we'll get there. Maybe the twists, turns, surprises, and unexpected roads are what make the journey worthwhile. So today, consider this your little reminder to trust your GPS, be willing to take the long way around, and leave a little room for the surprises along the way. Look beneath the surface

Sometimes we decide what is beautiful, welcome, or worthy before we ever take the time to look beneath the surface. After hearing about a summer infestation of caterpillars that left the trees looking almost like winter, Candace started imagining what it might look like when those caterpillars transformed. Then came the realization that they were actually moths and somehow, that changed the way she felt about them. Later, while camping, hundreds of brown beetles arrived each evening, dropping from the sky at dusk. They were unwelcome guests, yet when an abundance of ladybugs appeared in her backyard, she couldn't have been more excited. But wait… aren't ladybugs beetles, too? This simple observation became a reminder of how quickly we judge things by their exterior—and how easily we can do the same thing to ourselves and to other people. From comparing our own appearance to others to making assumptions about someone based on what we see, we can miss so much when we don't take the time to look a little deeper. Because what's on the outside changes. What's underneath—the personality, the heart, the experiences, and the person we become—can become more valuable with time. This episode is an invitation to look again, soften our judgments, and remember that there is always more to discover beneath the surface. The harvest moon

Sometimes we want everything we’ve been planting, dreaming about, and working toward to arrive all at once. But nature reminds us that harvest doesn’t quite work that way. Some seeds grow quickly, others take much longer, and different crops are ready at different times—and maybe that’s exactly how it’s meant to be. Inspired by a conversation with her friend Magda, Candace reflects on the wisdom of letting our own harvests arrive in their own timing. Because if everything came at once, would we even have the capacity to receive it, enjoy it, share it, and make something lasting from it? This is a gentle reminder that divine timing isn’t just about waiting for the harvest—it’s also about becoming ready to hold what we’ve been asking for. Go ahead, be cringe

In this episode of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, Candace explores the unexpected freedom that comes from being a little bit cringe. After hearing the phrase “To be cringe is to be free,” she starts thinking about all the ways we edit ourselves, hold back, or worry about how we’re being perceived. She shares a story about her chiropractor, Brett, who was once known as the “weird uncle” at family gatherings — until eventually, everyone simply accepted, “That’s just Brett.” Candace wonders what might happen if we stopped trying so hard to be anything other than ourselves and became willing to be a little weird, awkward, goofy, or cringe… because maybe that’s where the freedom is. More than meets the eye

In this episode of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, Candace is reminded that sometimes we can get a little too distracted by the shiny things. Inspired by a story Brené Brown shared about cleaning a hardwood floor with Pledge—with very slippery consequences—Candace starts thinking about her own shiny expectations for her new classroom. After comparing her new space to the beautiful classroom she had last year and the picture-perfect classrooms she sees on social media, a conversation with her friend Magda helps her see things a little differently. Maybe the magic isn’t in having the newest, biggest, or prettiest space. Maybe it’s in what we bring to it. With a little creativity, some upcycling, and a whole lot of our own energy, even the most dated space can become a sanctuary for peace, inspiration, and creativity. Because sometimes it’s not about how shiny the space is—it’s about the sparkle we bring to it. ✨ 💗 If you’re feeling the vibes… Subscribe, rate & review to help us grow this sweet little soul space!
