20 Life Lessons We Learned In Our 20’s

Ep 265: In this episode, Allison and Ceara reflect on lessons, opportunities and experiences from their 20’s. Allison turned 30 last year and Ceara turns 30 next month so we thought it was timely in this ‘February Farewell’ to spend time reminiscing on things we’ve learned - some the hard way, some the easy way.  A few takeaways from Allison include the power of self-discovery tools like astrology, recognizing how others perceive you, prioritizing quality purchases over trendy items, and being fulfilled rather than busy. A few takeaways from Ceara include the benefits of networking, using your time wisely, giving generously, being aware of who you surround yourself with and ensuring that you’re enjoying yourself amongst all life’s responsibilities.  In the catch up segment, Ceara shares about a friend’s birthday gathering and the Super Bowl. Reciprocity In Friendships, Guilt Over Past Mistakes and Toxic Situationships (WWYBD?!)

Ep 263: In this episode, Allison and Ceara answer listener submitted questions. You can submit questions any time via our website, and then we pull questions to fit a specific theme. In the catch up segment, Ceara updates listeners on new home projects such as elevating her primary bedroom and renovating her bathroom. She’s enjoying a slow January at home, taking Margo for walks in the snow, and reading a book club book. Allison’s family is visiting her in Haarlem so her schedule has been full of visiting attractions and showing them her favorite spots. She also candidly shares some challenges of breastfeeding in public.   After our catch up, we answer and talk through all of the questions below. TAKEAWAYS: Reciprocating support to loved ones is challenging during early stages of parenthood. It's important to honestly communicate your needs in relationships.Healing from past trauma will take time and support.Be aware of your own self-sabotaging patterns. It’s important to forgive yourself and let go of guilt. There are ways to overcome and cope with a fear of flying.  QUESTIONS ASKED: I’m having my first baby this year but am a bridesmaid in three of my friends' weddings. They were so supportive of me, and I want to reciprocate but I’m not sure how I will be able to do that with a newborn. My sister is in a horrible situation-ship that is affecting our relationship and making her depressed. However, she won’t leave him and I don’t know what to do at this point. I am feeling guilty for a lot of my behavior when I was younger, hurt and traumatized. As I begin to process and heal, I am noticing patterns.I have a horrible fear of flying but I have a friend's wedding in Italy this summer. Any advice? Habits We’re Doubling Down On and Things We’re Continuing This Year to Thrive

Ep 262: In this episode, Allison and Ceara reflect on healthy and productive habits they’ve been doing over the years that they plan to continue. We share examples across all the wellness dimensions from nutrition to cleaning to movement to daily coffees.  In the catch up segment, Allison updates listeners on her postpartum journey. Her recovery is going well so she’s back to biking, going to yoga, doing arm workouts and taking long stroller walks. Ceara got hacked so she spent too many hours dealing with that, but on a positive note - she had lunch with a friend and is getting a solid start on her reading goal for the year.  TAKEAWAYS: Small, consistent habits compound over time and create bigger results than occasional big efforts.Habits aren’t just routines — they actively shape your identity and daily life.Breaking goals up into smaller habits and goals makes change feel sustainable instead of overwhelming.Progress matters more than perfection when building new habits.Celebrating small wins helps reinforce consistency and motivation.Struggling with consistency is normal and requires patience and self-compassion. Things We Stopped Doing To Level Up (Perfectionism, Procrastination, Fear of Being Perceived)

Ep 261: In this episode, Allison and Ceara discuss habits, mindsets and patterns that they’ve intentionally given up in order to grow personally, professionally, and emotionally. We talk about saying no, letting go of perfectionism, setting firmer boundaries around accessibility, becoming more diligent about time, avoiding victim mentality, stepping away from extremes, and being more authentic in sharing our beliefs openly.  In the catch up segment, Ceara shares about her fitness program, co-working with a friend for accountability, and the beginning plans of her 30th birthday trip. Allison is getting to know baby Hayes, creating fun incentives for her vendors at the shop, and manifesting an office space.  If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, over-accessible, or stuck in patterns that no longer feel aligned, this episode is an invitation to pause, reassess, and consider what you might need to stop doing in order to level up. TAKEAWAYS: Growth can also come from subtracting, not just addition. Victim mentality keeps you stuck.Ignore “What-About-Ism” and don’t overexplain yourself. Done is better than perfect. Time is a very precious resource and should be treated with respect. Over-accessibility can lead to burnout and anxiety. Charging what you’re worth changes how you feel about yourself. You don’t need to be liked by everyone.Open-mindedness doesn’t require self-abandonment.  RELATED EPISODES: Episode # 108 - How to Develop Deep, Authentic Friendships, Red Flags in Community and The Five Friends You Need with Dr. Chelsea Shields Episode # 110 - Outgrowing Friendships, Self-Care, How to Stick to Your Goals and More Episode # 157 - Pursuing Your Career Goals While Maintaining Health and Happiness with Sam Noddle Episode # 209 - Your Vision Is The “Why” and Goals Are The “How” Episode # 232 - Living Life to the Fullest While Also Planning for Financial Stability and Future Goals MENTIONS: Ceara’s Workout Program - 1, 2, 3 Lagree SPONSORS + DISCOUNTS:  Get Shopify Point of Sale for your business! Why Slowing Down in the New Year Is Actually Natural and Avoids Burnout

Ep 260: In this episode, Allison and Ceara share about the importance of reflecting and evaluating on the previous year before jumping into new goals. We highlight our personal desire to find the balance between starting the year in a restful and restorative way, but also setting your north star for the year to capitalize on the new year energy. We share tangible ways you can reflect, organize and plan the upcoming months such as categorizing with the 8 dimensions of wellness or creating a ‘school curriculum.’  In the catch up segment, we both share updates of our Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations. Ceara spent the week in Charlotte with her siblings and parents. They played a lot of games that were a huge hit with the group. Allison’s mom and sister came to The Netherlands so they got to meet baby Hayes.  TAKEAWAYS: Slowing down in January is aligned with nature, not a sign of laziness.Refining and narrowing down your goals can avoid burnout. Reflection before goal-setting creates clarity. Starting the year with intention rather than pressure.Use frameworks like the 8 dimensions of wellness to evaluate.Creating a “personal curriculum” can organize priorities in a fun way.Slower pacing often fosters creativity, clarity, and deeper insight.Doing less sometimes leads to more. The quieter start of the year allows space for emotional processing.
