Talking over someone’s responses
Feb 14
On today’s show the host Ms Rosemary Barton spoke over the response being given by one of her panelist making impossible to hear the response nor the cascade of of worths being thrown over the voice of the panelist. For an experienced host she should know how to control her self and calmly listen what the panelist have to say. That is why I follow the show…to hear what the members of the panel have to say and not the uncontrolled cascade of worths from Rosemary Barton.
Good updates on relevant Canadian issues
2024-05-31
Rosemary Barton does a good job moderating, and the questions posed are poignant and well researched. Chantal Hébert and Andrew Coyne are great panelists, with Andrew in particular presenting fairly non-partisan. Althia Raj, while clearly intelligent and knowledgeable, can explain excessively, and steam roll the others in attempts to get her point across. Though I suppose the variety of personalities and perspectives is better than the alternative. Overall, this podcast is a great way to get updates on relevant Canadian issues.
Great insights

One of my favourite podcasts. Love the different viewpoints and insights. All the panelists very strong. Feels a bit rushed at times. Would love for it to be a bit longer.
On my regular rotation

Always a meaningful listen! Rosemary does an excellent job at facilitating, the panelists have great chemistry and distinct enough in their takes that there’s always a new angle for me to consider. Short enough to never miss an episode!
Coyne and Hebert are great, but..

I listen for the analysis from Andrew Coyne and Chantal Hebert who provide some of the best analysis of any journalists in the country but Althia Raj is incredibly biased to the point that the podcast is becoming unlistenable. She constantly delivers Liberal talking points, acting like a partisan. Would love to see her replaced with someone who demonstrates more neutrality, nuance, and understanding of the country outside of Ottawa and Toronto.
Love this podcast but it’s not working anymore

I can’t play or download it.
Barton’s crush on Althia is palpable…
2024-05-03
This podcast feels like an extension of the liberal party, mostly criticizing the conservatives, while propping up Trudeau. If you listen carefully, you will notice that Barton is giving Althia more airtime than the others, and she rarely interrupts her speeches with her irritating rebuttals. Sexism towards male journalists is prevalent, as 90% of the cast is female. Althia does a great job keeping her point brief and concise, while the others ramble on.
Althia holds the belt
2024-04-02
More Aaron Wherry! // Can you please for the love of God stop bringing Kelly Cryderman on the panel? Her sympathy for Saskatchewan’s government illegal withholding of tax revenues is beyond the pale. Bring back Chantal! Can’t mess with the trio. // Althia now holds the belt as the reigning champ of the panel. Her willingness to swim against the current of her co-panelists (and not just for the sake of it) and to patiently lay out cogent thoughtful arguments without favour to any political party or interest and without grasping for the trendiest narratives should be commended for excellence in Canadian political commentary. /// Great to see Elamin has moved on to other things; he always felt shoe-horned on this panel, his commentary was one-note (echoing others on points of generality or uncritically praising the NDP and attacking the other parties, especially the LPC).
Andrew Coyne is great

I listen for Andrew Coyne, he’s the least biased and criticizes all sides of an issue. The others are biased against the conservatives.
