This week, Briahna speaks to Paolo Gerbaudo, sociologist and political theorist based at King’s College London about newly elected Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Is she part and parcel of a wave of right wing "fascists" that have been sweeping the globe, or is the "f word" an overreach in this case? Is her win a win for women everywhere, as Hillary Clintons suggested? Or is there good reason to be concerned about her "focus on the family" style speeches which highlight an alleged war on traditional values. What conditions on the ground lead to her rise to power, and what hope is there for Italy's left?

Brie speaks to Sabrina Salvati, Nick Cruse, & Compton Jay of the Revolutionary Blackout Network about their discontent with electoral politics, and specific concerns about whether more affluent members of the left media sphere are too credulous about the possibility of success via the "inside game." Is there critique fair? Is investing in electoralism at all a waste? This panel holds nothing back. It' a good one.

This week, Briahna speaks to railworker Ross Grooters & Washington Post labor reporter Lauren Gurley about the status of the railworker negotiations over their leave policy. Are workers likely to strike? Is the tentative agreement that averted a strike over a week ago reflective of what railworkers are likely to settle for? Will they join a strike wave that could hobble the economy and force more progressive labor policies than we've seen in generations? How do rail workers view the Biden administration's role in the negotiations, and how can non-union members support rail workers? All this and more on an episode so important, we didn't want to paywall it.

This week, Briahna asks history professor and author of A History of America in Ten Strikes Erik Loomis whether the past reveals the potential of the current labor surge. How did we go from almost no union activity to a workforce strong enough to force FDR into creating the modern social safety net in ten years or so? What role did third party's play, and is the modern left too indifferent to supporting third party movements? And importantly: why is there so much hostility to the idea of a general strike? What does history tell us about the power of solidarity strikes, and what can we do today to make these "illegal" strikes more likely to occur?

This week, Briahna speaks to hematologist-oncologist and Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California San Francisco Vinay Prasad for a leftist's critique of COVID policy & the CDC. Has the left let the issue of pharmaceutical overreach be coopted by the right at its own peril? Is there any logic in young people without risk factors getting COVID boosters? How have the risk/rewards changed as variants have changed and risk of death has declined. Should colleges still be requiring young men who are at relatively high risk of myocarditis to get vaccinated? They talk about all this and more.

This week Briahna sppeaks to DNC member, senior advisor to Jesse Jackson, & founder of the Arab American Institute James Zogby about the DNC's latest betrayal: Their failure to even debate a resolution, introduced by Dr. Zogby, to get dark money out of Democratic Party primaries. After seeing how hostile the Democratic Party is to progressives from Jesse Jackson to Summer Lee, does Zogby still see the Democratic Party as a party in which progressives can effect change? Briahna asked him about the structure of the DNC, whether he'd support the "dirty break" strategy, and what it would've looked like if Bernie went 3rd party in 2016.

Best political podcast out there!

She’s Going Full Greenwald

Very disappointing to see a thoughtful leftist slowly morph into a contrarian “dems are always bad” demagogue in the mould of a Greenwald or Dore. When you spend more time defending Tucker and MTG than anyone on your own side, you’ve lost the plot. Unfollowed, unsubscribed. Get that money, I guess.
